I didn't know this. I guess they came up with some authority to declare this.

It's the Beer Wench that came up with it... the IPA is sort of a symbol of the American Craft beer movement.

The Ontario selection has really improved over the last couple years... what's everyone drinking?

I'll probably crack open a Fat Tug.

Make sure you check into untappd for your badge. Had a few Americans earlier might have a Boneshaker to celebrate for the Canadian brewers.

No Red Racer at the nearby Co-Op in Calgary tonight, so went with a Phillips Hoperation Tripel Cross Belgian IPA. Tastes like soap.

Mad Tom's what I've got on hand, so Mad Tom it is. And a Bellwoods Lost River IPA. And a Bellwoods Farmhouse IPA.

Happy IPA Day indeed! I marked it with a beer that definitely takes things to the "next level" in terms of raw hoppiness:

Fat Head's Head Hunter IPA (draught)

Also had an East End Big Hop Harvest Ale on cask, even though it's August. The Americans always start way too early with their seasonals.
