Canada is not as far up the chart as I might have expected. If we weren't located beside the U.S., our beer prices might not seem so bad.

I was looking for Sweden on the list. When I was there some 8 years ago, I found their beer prices to be very close to ours.

This was done with some very poor researchers clearly. There is no way that beer in Germany costs $1.90. Even with the ridiculous deposit that they charge in Germany, the price of most beer is no higher than €1.25 ($1.60) for 500ml.

Also, beer in Korea is well under W2000 at any store for a 500ml Korean beer (which is awful, but still technically beer).

I'm sure there are many other examples of inaccuracies. It's ridiculous that the Economist posts this junk online. The magazine is usually quite good.

I'm curious about how your excellent research may differ from that done by UBS. Obviously your research wouldn't be based on purely anecdotal evidence.

Looks like homebrewing pays off in most places... say 6 hrs labour for 23L... and you're under 8 minutes a bottle (not including the modest price of ingredients).

If you're quicker or do bigger batch sizes, even better!
