Has anyone ever ordered online from http://www.halftimebeverage.com/index.htm before in the past? Had it shipped to a US post address? Places like http://www.cbiusa.com/. Thoughts?

I've never ordered from them but I have ordered from many other on line stores. There were a lot of service issues with Half Time but apparently they have been fixed and they are shipping fairly promptly now. They had a promo a couple of weeks ago for free shipping on orders over $100. I think the code was FREESHIP, but I could be wrong.

Do you use a US mailbox?

Which websites would you recommend ordering from?

It really depends what you are looking for. Given how regionalized a lot of the really good craft beer is, it really depends what you are after. If you want Pliny or other CA stuff, there are a number of them in CA.

cheap, reliable, easily accessible from the rainbow bridge... hard to go wrong. i rarely ship anything over the border anymore since it's cheaper to just ship to CBI + pay their $5.95 fee than it is to have it cross the border. plus no customs hassle.

No customs hassle? What did I miss?

I haven't had any hassles in awhile. Was down in Buffalo for about 4 hours and brought back 24 bottles without having to pay duty.

Do they let you know when the goods show up?

No they don't but you should get a tracking number from any on line store that will let you know when your package is delivered.

I think he means no customs hassle shipping it across the border. You would still need to declare it at the border when coming back but your risk of having it confiscated by a postal official is dramatically lower.

exactly. shipping it over the border there's risk involved, possibility of having it confiscated and/or destroyed or paying huge fees if you want to actually get the beer. most of the time you can slip through, but those few times it can hurt. Plus, in my experience the increase in cost to ship over the border is far more than the cost to ship something to NY and pay the CBI fee. Not to mention that some will do free shipping within the US, and many places won't even consider shipping over the border. CBI is a great option. even if you get hit up for duty crossing the border with it in your car, it's going to work out better.

CBI is awesome. Only way it would be better is if they were open Sundays.
