There is a notice on the SOB forum for a new London area brewery opening this spring. More homebrewers going pro! It looks like it will be a great contribution to the SW Ontario scene.

Seems like a new brewery is opening in Ontario every week now.

LOL. All good - I don't blame you for not wanting to read about the APK re-opening for the 7th time.

This was my initial reaction as well, but I'm encouraged by the fact that these guys are award-winning home brewers and I'm glad to see them launching with a Rye Pale Ale (as compared to nearby Walkerville debuting with an amber lager and Ramblin' Road getting all inventive with a pilsner).

Also, when they were talking about their home brewing background on some terribly-written blog that I refuse to name, they mentioned doing one of their competition entries (kolsch, barleywine, dunkelweisse, and Belgian strong dark ale) as a possible seasonal/rotator.

So things certainly "sound" good at this point, and I think with a market of 475,000 and a city that already supports several craft-friendly bars, events, and a micro beer festival, they'll be able to thrive with their flagships while experimenting at the same time.

So was I. I imagine it won't be too adventurous (you can't start out that way), but at least it's something that's not a pale ale or lager. I'm looking forward to their seasonals, it'll be nice to have a place doing that which is a short drive for me.

Hopefully even some of the less craft-friendly bars will give the local guys a tap, just for being local.
