Spotted today at the Bier Markt on King - Goose Island Matilda & Sofie in the bottle. Anyone know the scoop with GI in Ontario? Heard a while back they were coming to the province...

OK, I should read the forum! I guess from another thread they're out at the LCBO. Anyway, great to see!

Actually drinking a Sofie at this very moment. Quite nice! Not as good as TDD Dulcis Succubus, say (which I had for the first time at the Bar Isabel thing this week) but still not bad at all.

Here's the official news, although there's been a lot of blog posts already...
Goose Island Migrates North to Canada for the First Time
Award-winning Chicago micro-brewery launches Vintage Ales collection in Ontario
April 15, 2013 (Toronto, ON) – Goose Island – one of Chicago’s most beloved micro-breweries – will make its Canadian debut with the launch of its Vintage Ales in Ontario this spring. Known for its focus on innovation and brewing award-winning beer, Goose Island’s brews define styles and captivate the hearts, imaginations, and palates of beer fans. Two of Goose Island’s Vintage Ales – Sofie and Matilda – are both Belgian-style ales that are permanent available in Ontario.
Elegantly designed and well-suited to share during a meal, Sofie and Matilda are ideal for the discerning beer or wine drinker and are brewed to complement the flavours in some of the finest foods.
“This is the first time Goose Island has launched in Canada and it brings exciting new brews for beer fans. We know that there is a demand for beer that specifically pairs well with food and Goose Island’s focus on the brewed for food concept marries this perfectly,” said Arielle Loeb, Marketing Director for High End Premium brands at Labatt. “The addition of Goose Island to Labatt’s portfolio gives beer fans a product that they can experiment with alongside a number of different flavours and courses.”
Sofie’s orange and vanilla notes accentuate the delicate meat of grilled whitefish, while the light, bubbly character cuts through the richness of grilled shrimp or lobster. Matilda’s ample spiciness cuts through rich, fatty flavours, while the sweet malt character contrasts the savory taste of grilled pork chops and rotisserie chicken.
“Goose Island is passionate about elevating the status of beer through education and innovation. Our Vintage Ales are the perfect beers to do this as their bold flavours lend well to pairing with food,” said Suzanne Wolcott, Goose Island Cicerone and Educator. “With such a vibrant beer and food culture in Canada, we are excited to bring the complex flavours and aromas of our Vintage Ales to Canadian palates.”
In addition to Sofie and Matilda, Goose Island will launch a limited quantity of Pepe Nero – a farmhouse ale brewed with black peppercorns that has a roasty sweetness that melds into a lingering, earthy, black pepper finish – and Pere Jaques – styled after Belgian Dubbels and brewed with plenty of malt and Belgian yeast, resulting in wonderfully fruity, malty ale. Pepe Nero will perfectly accompany grilled meat on the barbecue and Pere Jacques pairs with a wide variety of foods or can be enjoyed as an alternative to a glass of vintage port. Both Pepe Nero and Pere Jacques will be available in Ontario in the coming months.
Goose Island’s Sofie and Matilda are available at Nota Bene restaurant throughout April alongside a specially-prepared menu. Goose Island Sofie and Matilda come in an elegant 765 ml bottle and will be available at select LCBO stores, bars, and restaurants beginning early May.
