The Bar Towel

My girlfriend and I are going to Tennessee next week for a music festival. We are allowed to bring in two cases of beer per person, but NO GLASS is allowed.

What is available and awesome in cans in the states? I was planning on bringing a case or two of great Ontario beer, but would like to buy some things I can't get up here.

Any thoughts?

I don't know what's available in Tennessee, but if you're driving down you should be able to find lots from Sixpoint, Oskar Blue's, Sierra Nevada and others in NY State

Pretty much everyone is moving over to cans for their regular offerings.

Oskar Blues and Ska were the first to really go totally can.

I would recommend:

IPA/Pale
Oskar Blues - Dales Pale Ale
Ska - Modus Hoperandi
Avery - IPA
21st Amendment - Brew Free or Die
Sierra Nevada - Pale Ale (The original)

All are easier drinking IPA's that won't kill your palate with one can.

I adore Oskar Blues - G'Night, Imperial Red. Hopped up red ale. I absolutely love this beer and would adore an Ontario brewery to do a version. I would easily buy it by the case. Please.....

Do yourself a favour, don't bring any beer from Canada. You have a lot of options, NY state beer stores/grocery stores have a lot of craft in cans, and it is a fraction of the price!

Consumers Beverages in NY state, lots of locations, look at the add on the left, it has 15 different craft 12-packs in cans, lowest prices 9.99$ to a high of 16.99$.

We are driving down through Michigan so Consumers isn't an option. Thank you though. I was planning on bringing some local mostly to trade with other people.

Same Here (that is - I like to do that when I drive down to the U.S., not that I'm going to Bonnaroo with you...although....

I like to bring a few Crazy Canucks, DPA, etc for that purpose. They may be "stock" beers to us, but people are always interesting in trying new things.

I was gonna say, some people's geography is a bit off if a trip from Toronto to Tennessee includes New York state. Anyway, Oskar Blues if you can get it. Great brewery!

Whatever you do get your beer before you get to TN. Slim pickings in TN.

Yeah I was reading that the laws in Tennessee keep high and low gravity beers in separate stores. To buy anything 6% and above, you have to go to a liquor store.

I was more referring to general distribution to TN. They get the major stuff like SN, Stone, New Belgium, etc. but not much interesting gets there aside from some southern stuff that you don't see up this way like Terrapin.
