LCBO 2014 Spring release?

Post by spinrsx »

Last year the spring release was announced at the end of January.. so we should hear any day now? LCBO webpage says their the spring 2014 release should be focused on sour/hoppy beers.

A few guesses on what will be included (based on posts from the 'coming soon' thread):

Aventinus Eisbock
Pyramid Outburst IIPA
Liefmans Cuvee Brut
St. Louis Guezue Fond Tradition
Amager Kaaad
Oakham Citra Pale Ale
Montagnarde Ambree
Lefebrve Hopus
Kasteelbier Donker
Worthingtons White Shield

I'm really looking forward to that Eisbock. It's one of those styles you just don't see that often in Ontario.

Me too! I buy the regular Aventinus when I can, but yeah, the Eisbock is truly fantastic.
I used to sell beer. Now I don't.

That's a beer that I overlook often for some reason. When I posted before I made a note to myself to pick up a few.

I like this beer fresh but I had a Aventinus the other day that was a few years old - really tasted different.. more dark fruit and caramel/malty. I enjoyed it and bought a few more bottles to tuck away.

Super excited about the Eisbock. Was just talking about it with a friend the other day and now it looks like we'll get a chance to try it fairly soon!(hopefully)

I think the Nebuchadnezzar from Omnipollo will be in this release as well
I don't always drink beer ... because sometimes my friends win and we have to go to macro-only establishments.

I found Morsure really disappointing. Of the big name Quebec IPA's that have come out in the past year or so, it's the one I liked the least.

Not yet. And the beer category manager at the LCBO recently left, so I'm not sure who to contact there to get this info.

I'll hit a few other folks I know there and see if I can find out anything...

To be honest, I've been disappointed with Trou du Diable beers in general. I'll get the occasional hit (BarVolo 25th Anniversary, for example), but overall I've found their stuff to be average quality and overpriced. It's definitely not BAD, but I feel like I can get better value for my money.

Damn cool bottles, though.

I tend to like their sours but not so much their hoppy beers. I very much enjoyed the Archéoporter.

I'd be curious to know what the job requirements are. I didn't see any posting on the LCBO website careers section about the open position. Maybe only internally posted.
