Introducing Light Mode! If you would like a Bar Towel social experience that isn't the traditional blue, you can now select Light Mode. Go to the User Control Panel and then Board Preferences, and select "Day Drinking" (Light Mode) from the My Board Style drop-down menu. You can always switch back to "Night Drinking" (Dark Mode). Enjoy!

Re: Recruiting back to the Bar Towel

Hey Cass and crew - thanks for the email, it was a good incentive to log back in and check things out. Congrats to you and everyone here for keeping this going over the years! I've checked in from time to time but it is certainly so nice to see so many familair names here on this current thread. Cas...

Muskoka is an interesting brewery. On the one hand it represents everything that is "wrong" with Ontario's beer scene, in terms of brewing safe, inoffensive styles with indistinguishable names (Dark, Cream, Lager, etc). In this regard it undeniably contributes to and upholds the province'...

Hey guys, I have not posted in a while, I hope everyone is doing well. This is not a bad little beer at all - there is no need for the "light" name on the can, but it is there to help them sell and maybe stand out in terms of craft beer (or fit in in terms of mass market beer?) and hey, if...

The bottle I had was stunningly decent. It was also very fresh, before it was even showing up in the LCBO system. As always with Trafalgar, it all depends on how lucky you are with getting a fresh bottle. I can say fresh it was more than drinkable - kind of like a kicked up Flying Monkey's Hoptical....

@tupalev:
I was once told I was being poured a Durham Hop Head when in fact it was the Black Katt! I usually just ask for a taste when I'm there, instead of asking anyone.

Black Katt as Hop Head, that wins! :lol:

Over the summer folks at the Rhino told me I was drinking cask Grand River Pale Ale. Not only had Rob not ever made such a beer, he hadn't delivered anything to the Rhino it some time. I'm not sure why they cannot go to the trouble of knowing what beer they serve, or why they make up names, but ther...

This is the first one I am going to miss as well (I know the deer hunting calendar is not tops in Toronto for scheduling purposes!) - I hope it goes really well for Ralph and the crew at Volo and for all of the regulars here who are attending. I'll see if there is any leftover when I get back!

Jesse - I love the place for the beer they carry and the support they give to micro's like Flying Monkey in this good beer forsaken wasteland, plus the service is excellent and friendly too. I just wish it did not feel like a large brightly lit open concept living room :) . Peter - please keep us po...

C'mon, if the LCBO is going to push for single serve 500ml packages for beer they should be giving us something to carry them in! Trying to stuff a bunch of beer in a paper bag or reusable shopping bag is stupid and actually discouraging for sales. I find it very awkward. There is a store in Waterlo...

Nice, I've always wanted a Vegas recommendation, thanks for posting that.

Speakeasy Double Daddy is a personal favourite - had several very fresh pints in San Fran a few years ago which were terrific - bottles are pretty good as well.

Hey KW folks - I am having some people from out of town tomorrow up for a visit - if they were interested in samplers at the Huether, is it best to drink upstairs or downstairs? I like the downstairs a lot more, but I've never really seen anyone but staff a the bar before. Upstairs is fine but sort ...
