Re: Toronto Brewery District
Tempest in a brewkettle? I bet a whole lot of this stuff will be popping up for a while. people trying to ride the coattails of others. Maybe it's good intentioned, but to what purpose? If the Mayor was serious about his earlier suggestion of making Toronto some sort of beer destination, then just ...

Re: Toronto Brewery District
Yeah, I was wondering if all 13 breweries even knew about this before the story ran. the quick answer? no. everybody's mad at the braintrusts at Hendersons, from what I can (easily and transparently) gather. the breweries were asked "is this something you'd be interested in?" "sure. ...

Re: New BarVolo / House Ales location in Little Italy?
The former Souz Dal is a pretty great location! And who's to say you can't wander to FOLLY (former Habits) brew pub for some food 950 metres west of here. Much looking forward to Volo V.2 since I spend less time around Yonge since a lot of my stuff is now around Kensington area. Super excited to ha...

Re: Folly Brewpub
growlers or nah? It's a hotly debated topic! Seems some people love them and others find them a total pain. I kinda like a 1L growler, but a lot of people seem to think they are too big or don't get used often enough. Not sure Toronto really has enough of a growler culture to work with... if I coul...

Re: Folly Brewpub
Hey Bar Towel peeps, Just wanted to update you folks about how things are going over at Folly! We're been brewing like crazy over the last few months and have finally taken over most of the taps here at the brewpub. Trying to keep one or two guest taps, but you know, lots of fun things to brew. We'r...

Re: beerbistro
I think there are still a few ways to differentiate your draft list that people aren't doing. There are 125 breweries, 38 brew pubs, and 47 contract brewers in this province, yet draft lists at Volo/Bar-Hop etc focus on a subset of about 20-30 of them. You can make arguments that these 20-30 brewer...

Re: Shillow Beer
Anyone know this? A Toronto Brewery (probably contract brewed?). I hadn't heard of them until Folly posted a photo on Instagram of them (alongside Folly -- congrats!) on the beer menu at Bar Isabel, which I would assume to be a pretty good contract to have? http://www.shillowbeer.com/ Haven't heard...

Re: Lansdowne Brewery
Heard these guys collaborated with Folly Brewpub just down the road to brew an elderberry saison using 15 lbs of elderberries and Escarpment Lab's fruit bomb saison-brett blend (saison, sac brux trois, brett D). Heard it was going to be at their Farmhouse tap takeover and on tap at Folly. Heard it l...

Re: Folly Brewpub
Any plans for bottles to go? I don't live downtown. Bottle shop is in the works. We need to build it, brew enough beer to not run out on tap, and get permits to build it first (to open one you need to write every church, school, park, etc in the area and get permission! it's nuts!). Current time li...

Folly Brewpub
Hey, hi, howdy Bar Towel folks. Just wanted to move the discussion from “ Habits to be nanobrewing ” over here for more general talk about our brewpub. On October 9th 2015 we released a press release ( read it here ) which outlined how Habits Gastropub is no more and that we’re relaunching as Folly ...

Re: Habits to be nano brewing
Love this discussion! My own feelings closely follow Mr. Oliver's, I think. Our main saison (Habits Saison) plays well with both in my opinion, since it's bright and citrusy to make light foods pop and peppery and dry enough to cut through heavy foods. Had a glass at lunch the other day with a takeo...

We will be open Sundays now!
Should be tapping a Farmhouse IPA (two bretts, galaxy and sorachi ace hops) and a Spelt Saison today too.
