Hahahaha, exactly why this "hype" brewery isn't on my radar.
I'd consider it to be the best brewery in Ontario, though. In other words, not hype.

Re: beer (alcohol) and health

Please share any examples of beers you've tried that were between 0.5-3% ABV that 'scratched the itch'... The Big Drop stout was somewhat convincing to me. According to Ratebeer there are low alcohol beers that are far more than just passable. For example.. https://www.ratebeer.com/beer/miloslaw-be...

Re: beer (alcohol) and health

I don't really consider nonalcoholic beer much of an indulgence, but sometimes you want something fizzy and dry that goes well with food, but sans alcohol. The choices have gotten a lot better over the years (for instance, I recommend Bellwoods' dry-hopped nonalc fruit sours), and I expect that tren...

So...Mill Street Brewery has come out with a hazelnut brown ale. Would I recommend it? No, not really. But it might scratch a certain itch!

Re: Top 5 B.S.

In terms of Ontario-made brews, Godspeed makes excellent traditional Czech lagers, both light and dark, that could certainly pass as lawnmower/dad beers. They just happen to be very sophisticated and well-made, with authentically difficult-to-pronounce names. Third Moon makes a great Czech lager (ca...

Re: France 2023 Beer Notes

I was in Dublin in May last year, and got to try all the export beers at the brewery. Really good stuff, and I did everything I could to advertise their availability. Alas, most people didn't get past the basic version of Guinness, no doubt entranced by the opportunity to pull your own draught.

Same here, basically. It feels old-fashioned, like paying for the TTC with a "token."

Old Flame Brewing's new location in Toronto Distillery District

I just happened upon this recently. Nice space and it offers a low-key alternative to some of the other spots nearby. I'm not too familiar with the brewery (although their beers won a lot of Ontario/Canadian Brewing Awards in the mid-late '10s), but I like that they're producing both traditional and...

Re: Betty's on King St is Closing

The place is across the street from me, and I hope they have something cool on the ground floor. Anything but a pot shop, furniture store, or nail salon will do.

Truth is, pubs don't work well underneath condos because of the late-night noise and constant smell of deep-fried everything.

Re: Anyone make an Eisbock in Ontario?

Just searched in Ontario on Untappd (only possible on mobile, and the process takes exactly 14 clicks...fix it, guys!) and found a very short list. Also, Paris doesn't even show up, probably because of the ratings threshold. So yeah, Untappd blows goats, but here's what I could find: Expedition Brew...
