Re: Common Good Beer Co.
I've had both the ipa and the dry hopped belgian. The ipa was quite malt forward which might appeal to some, but I'd really prefer more hops. The Belgian was quite thin and definitely needs some tweaking if they continue with it. I tried those two as well and didn't care for either. IPA had no arom...

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS
In fairness, the hoopla was never about the blonde or big wheel. It was about beers like (double) tempest, sour cherry IS and deWallen. They were making those 3-4 years ago when the styles were a lot rarer. They also had interesting one off releases. Anyone remember Lady Stav and Goedenmorgen? Exac...

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS
Yeah I was hopeful with their whole Farmhouse Series, but each one of them have been pretty meh. Just had the 18 Hands and it was the most meh of them all. Amsterdam are becoming a brewery where I find myself saying "can't love every beer" more and more often. God I sound like such a pick...

Just ignore his comments. We all have our biases towards or against certain breweries and he seems to have a fairly obvious predisposition to dislike Bellwoods beers, regardless of the style.FEUO wrote:gordonpeterwiebe wrote: Because you don't enjoy them they are "not particularly well made"?
Ya, that must be it.

Re: Bellwoods Brewery
I guess it's just a quick "try it & buy it" tasting room. That seems to be the idea. I've only been once, so I may be wrong but I don't think they do full pours ~ only 3o-4z (?) tasters, so I don't think the intent is to have customers there for extended periods of time. And for those...

Re: Bellwoods Brewery
To all Bellwoods fans: fill your boots with $14 barrel aged stouts, its your money, do with it what you want. But please don't go screaming obscenities at anyone who disagrees with you. I don't care about how much a brewery spends on rent or fruit ... I prefer my beer without high overhead or (sour...

Re: Bellwoods Brewery
I get the price bitching about 2nd rate Ontario Brewers, but if you can't afford Bellwoods, don't act like it's Bellwood's fault. Couldn't agree more. The bitching about the pricing on these bottles was a given. Always seems to be the same people too. If people don't like the prices, they can take ...

Re: Napanee Beer Company
Stopped in on the weekend. Decent selection: Deadline Lager - decent craft lager. Mayday Ale - over malty, kinda flat, meh. Blacklist Dark Lager - Impressive stuff here, I don't normal like black lagers but this is really good. Devilish Spiced Black Saison - Roasted malt, coffee, and spice, kinda l...

Re: Thin Man Brewery, Elmwood Village
I'll be back soon to this palace of liquid pleasure. But I won't ever neglect Coles! the Elmwood hierarchy ABV Thin Man Coles. After my first visit to ABV and Coles a few weekends ago, I would agree with this. The tap list at Coles seems to get worse each time I go there. Last time there were even ...

Re: Buffalo NY - what to see and explore?
Stopped by Thin Man last night. It is a really cool place with a great vibe. The service was incredibly slow; had it not been for the bottle of Mexican Cake that we really wanted to try, we likely would have left as it took about 15 minutes (maybe more) to have our drink order taken. That being said...

Interesting perspective. To me, PAs/IPAs that look like theirs do are beautiful and would be a 5/5 as far as appearance goes.boney wrote: their PA's and IPA's are ugly, murky milkshakes,

Is there a taxi company in Waterbury? Someone above mentioned Uber. Is there actually Uber around there? Thinking of staying one night at the Best Western up the hill, but want to get to/From the bars in Waterbury. Save your money for beer and walk it. I did that walk...easy from Best West, straigh...

Re: Finally a good beer spot in Mississauga!
It's all subjective, I suppose. I have been to Crooked Cue, and while I consider it to be a decent spot, it's not a beer destination. As for Bier Markt, It's passable. I work across the street from Bier Markt and have been there maybe 5 times despite the convenience factor, so again, passable but no...
