Last month I asked for Cameron's and the girl went to get it. After returning she told me that it was past its due date. This was the only time I've met a beer store employee who cares about fresh beer and I thanked her for it.

If you're down Waterford way look out for World of Wines, best off-license for beer on the island. Really? I lived in Waterford for a year, passed that place down the small alley/street all the time but never stepped inside. If you're going to be in Cork you can visit the Franciscan Well brewpub. T...

Mmmm, I could print off that list and eat it. Seeing all those great-sounding beers makes me think of my favourite Bender the robot quote: "....and mix them all together in a big jug."

My girl has a very particular taste in beer. She enjoys fruit-flavoured ones (framboise, kriek, McAuslan apricot wheat, Magic Hat lemongrass) but then also anything with a deep roasty coffeeish flavour. I think most women - very nearly all women - enjoy beers that don't "taste like beer." ...

Warm enough? Do you brew from a shed or something like that?

Wellington County Ale. It's easily available, comes in cask and bottles, and is delicious. It's been my go-to beer for a long time.

Check out the book "3 Sheets to the Wind" by Pete Brown, he describes a couple of amusing (informative?) trips to the Czech Republic, well worth the read from a beer perspective... I just finished that book last week, it was very good. When I lived in Ireland I met the no-armed man Pete w...

I know I will never win a golden tap award as my beers are not to bartoweler's liking, but I guarantee consistency and quality in any product that leaves my plant. Do you think of your brewery as a factory? It should be regarded as a brewhouse, not a plant. Consistency is important, but how about u...

I like that column too, except that it isn't steady. Some weeks it's there and some it's not. Frustrating!

The Altbier is very good, and the strong ale is even better and quite similar. The strong ale has a fuller bread/biscuit/caramel character, but otherwise they are nearly the same. If you haven't tried either, go for the strong ale.

The beer (the Lager, anyhow) still tastes the same. Creemore was one of the first good beers I tried back a few years ago when I was realizing what good beer is. I remember it being better then than it is now, more fresh and with more oomph - as if the new stuff is pasteurized and the old was not (...

We've got a tap in Oshawa now. I prefer it in the bottle at home though, I find that Gritstone is very boring until it gets to almost room temperature.
