Barncat Rye barrel Rat Queen with vanilla. My last bottle of the 4 or 5 I bought. Still drinking beautifully. The rye spiciness has pretty much subsided, but the rest remains. Perfect amount of vanilla, touch of oak and the base beer still Coming through nicely. Rounded full body with the slight bar...

Collective arts newest LCBO available IPA- Beach Haze. Ok, I was a little thrown off by the style “Miami NEIPA” a bit of an oxymoron, no? Anyways it turns out that it is very very good. I get tonnes of coconut and citrus in it. Coconut up front then leaning into a big hit of yuzu and then a lingerin...

Re: Beer & Brewing Critiques & Pet Peeves
I bought a ton of landlord when it was on my local shelves. It hasn't been around in a bit though, sadly. I’ve been buying tonnes of Landlord since we’ve been lucky enough to have it the last few years. There used to be 2 lcbos in Guelph that would regularly stock it, now it’s just the one…that is ...

Re: What're you drinking right now?
I've been in the same "beer league" hockey league for heading towards 30 years. it has been interesting to see the evolution of what typically gets brought to the games. When I started in the ate 90's, 355 mL cans of Blue, Export, or Canadian were most common. Penalty for forgetting your ...

Re: What're you drinking right now?
A couple random finds at the lcbo from Parsons. Westy Pale ale and Noice IPA. Of the two, the pale ale is better I think. Classic west coast profile, lots of grapefruit and very refreshing. Noice is also west leaning but not as tasty as the westy. A bit of a bubblegum, weiss-like finish on it that d...

Check out this thread: https://www.bartowel.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10008 Your post sparked the memory as there was a guy (@G.M. Gillman) - Gary - who I don't think posts here anymore but still has a personal blog. He was a fan of not just adding flavours but blending different beers. He took som...

I’ve never had any of their stuff, but I remember hearing about them 2-3 years ago and heard good things.

Sparrow Sheffield Bitter-Very very good. Caramel forward, perfect carbonation, orange pekoe tea, nice bitterness. In a world where we can’t access the phenomenal Fullers ESB, I’m glad I live close enough to have this beer often. Sparrow Stranger from Glen Robertson- Collab with Wood Bros. To be honest...

Royal City Lite Lager.
It’s really quite good and full flavoured for the low abv. I’d put it up there with my top choices in the Ontario light beer lineup. Stands up nicely to the Bellwoods Ultra and Muskoka Tread Lightly

Re: Left Field Brewery
Left Field is moving from 355 mL to 473 mL cans. I’m sure this will be beneficial for them, especially with somewhat obscured four-pack format pricing, but this makes it more difficult to modulate consumption and costs for consumers. I’m assuming if they do this for all or almost all their stuff, b...

Re: Breweries closing and/or restructuring and/or bought out
I feel similar things about the Goose Island Toronto location. I never wish ill on anyone, but GI Toronto feels like their Instagram closing post could be anytime now. Whenever I've been it's always dead, and the Bier Markt side doesn't seem to have any of the corporate business that it enjoyed pre...
