The Second Wedge
I just heard The Second Wedge in Uxbridge sustained some major damage in Saturday's storm. I've never tried their beers or seen them available in my usual shopping spots. Now would be a good time to give them some support. Anybody see their stuff at the LCBO or in indy bottle shops? I hope they reco...

Re: What're you drinking right now?
I recently overheard someone say "wine o'clock is my favourite time of day. The sunrise is so beautiful".

Re: Pedal Pubs in Toronto
To be clear. I am not advocating acting or getting away with being outside the law. The law needs to be fixed. Law enforcement should not be the judiciary and should not be in the position to make discretionary decisions. Big slippery slope. But if you do choose to enjoy public space in Toronto in a...

Re: Pedal Pubs in Toronto
how much do they enforce the current rules? there is a tasting group in toronto that regularly posts pics of their tasting happening in a park I regularly enjoy beverages in parks and nice public places with various groups of friends. I have often encountered and talked with officers while holding ...

Re: Pedal Pubs in Toronto
I rode one of these in Amsterdam. Not only did they serve beer, but there was a woman shucking fresh oysters on board too. Unfortunately the beer was shit. It was also pretty messy, lots of spillage. Even on smooth level roads.

Re: G&M (paywall): Canada’s crowded craft beer industry is tapped out. What brewers say must happen to stay afloat
Oh the "pity cans" - It's always such an awkward moment of deciding if you actually want to buy anything after an underwhelming tasting at a brewery. I feel like wineries are more used to people just coming for a tasting and not buying stuff to take home. Funny thing. a few years back I w...

This is encouraging. I will revisit their beers with an open mind.

I agree with this assessment too. Since Beaus was referenced, I'd say they are a good example of somewhere between 2nd and 3rd tier. That's probably what consolidations and acquisitions are targeting. Sometimes I wonder if there are breweries that are just built to be sold. Hendersons comes to mind....

If I recall, the Vankleek brewery was built as a showcase of brewing with renewable energy and they had fundraised from their customers and community to get it done. I wonder how those people feel about that now. That feels like more of a betrayal than selling out.

I was pleasantly surprised to find Ghost Orchid at the 'BO. I don't think I've ever seen it there before. A happy surprise and I've managed to enjoy a few cans over the last week. Must restock!

Re: Collective Arts
This is probably a bit of a too late post as I think it's nearing the end of it's release, but IPA#20 is a real standout. I highly recommend you get your hands on some before it's gone (just don't shop at the same LCBO I do!). Yes it's big, but it's a solid balanced beer, very much back in form with...

Palate chat?
Get ready to drink from a firehose, because here is my post. ;-) I was just inspired to think about this as a proposed forum thread. (I’ll get to the inspiration in a bit). As a homebrewer, I try new ingredients, as most do. But even beer lovers who don’t brew themselves get exposed to new things. D...

Interesting article about the beer scene in Thailand.

I've heard a lot about how their oligarchs control the economy, but I wasn't aware that it applied to beer as well.
