Re: Can prices going up due to tariffs

It surprises me to hear there is no domestic can manufacturing. It's not like making a can is as hard as a vaccine. I doubt the equipment cost is even that crazy. While I understand a large US manufacturer can probably price well due to critical mass, there is still a huge beverage industry in Canad...

And now Poilievre is endorsing it: https://nationalpost.com/news/politics/poilievre-says-hell-tear-down-provincial-trade-barriers-after-u-s-tariff-havoc This is just PP being a political opportunist again. There's nothing the Federal government can do unless they want to put their hands on the cons...

Re: Bar Hop 2 (Peter St)

Craft has 145 according to their website, plus 15 taps that aren't beer. I don't have a particular threshold in mind, but from my limited travels in the US it seems common in cities there for there to be at least one or two places like that with like 100 taps. Seems less popular here, for whatever ...

Re: Breweries closing and/or restructuring and/or bought out

I feel similar things about the Goose Island Toronto location. I never wish ill on anyone, but GI Toronto feels like their Instagram closing post could be anytime now. Whenever I've been it's always dead, and the Bier Markt side doesn't seem to have any of the corporate business that it enjoyed pre...

Last I looked they were closing in on $20, which puts them in my "I'm pretty sure gonna break them on first use" category. Same reason I don't buy expensive sunglasses.

I'll keep checking there, though.

The Growler Ontario Ending Publication

Related, and maybe should be a separate thread, The Growler is also defunct now. I thought Jordan's farewell/postmortem was interesting. I sort of see a silver lining, or perhaps I'm seeking one. There was a time when all of these resources were central to craft beer enthusiasts finding new prey. In...

Re: Glasses

I can attest that C'est What sells glassware - this is how I got mine. Also mentioned elsewhere on these pages, you might be surprised at what you can find at your local thrift shop. Thanks. My undersized selection is thrift shop and dollar store sourced and has held up well. Fortunately I am now o...

Re: Glasses

Revisiting an old thread... Anybody have a line on some good inexpensive glassware? In particular, I'm looking for non-branded , 20oz imperial pint glasses. Preferably conicals, but could settle for nonics as well. I'm getting tired of not being able to serve a tallboy in one pour (with headroom). S...

Re: The Beer Store Changes Pricing Displays

It would seem to me a rather clever way to stir the pot for the TBS is if they showed both prices. They must have enough room on the labels. Then, instead of having an irritating conversation with a customer at checkout, they could call out the extra charges and educate.

Re: Toby's Pub - College St.

I often wonder if I would like it as much if I had a chance to try it all these years later. I think about that very thing from time to time about the beers that I first had when I was getting into beer, namely the slate from Upper Canada. Those and the unique beers from the old Niagara Falls Brewi...
