Introducing Light Mode! If you would like a Bar Towel social experience that isn't the traditional blue, you can now select Light Mode. Go to the User Control Panel and then Board Preferences, and select "Day Drinking" (Light Mode) from the My Board Style drop-down menu. You can always switch back to "Night Drinking" (Dark Mode). Enjoy!

Re: Godspeed 7th Anniversary Weekend

I am disappointed that their website only mentions that there is an event, but no other details. Presumably their instacrap account has the details like who the collaborators are. It annoys me when businesses use that tactic to tell non social media users that they are not welcome. Would it be so ha...

Re: What're you drinking right now?

Collective Arts Singular Vision. Described as a singe hop (Simcoe) NEIPA. I'd say it's a bit different to what we have come to expect from NEPIAs. In a good way. It's on the dry side, to my liking, yet still has a pleasant mouthfeel. It does not have any acrid notes in the finish in some attempt to ...

Yep. All it took was to agree to let the staff have a casual week. They all get to wear tank tops, shorts and flip fops...

Re: What's Your Favourite Ontario West Coast IPA?

A month or so back I revisited Ransack the Universe and was pleasantly surprised that they have returned to form. It's not the most extreme example out there, but I'm liking it. I'm glad they seem to have overcome their QC issues. My wife loves Life in the Clouds (as do I) and she reports the same w...

Re: Because Beer Hamilton July 11-12

We should have a special GIF when an ancient thread comes back to life! I like the gif thing, but it's got to be the minimum number of pixels possible. I propose a closeup of a gusher/foam over from a 'cellared' (AKA LCBO new old stock) Trafalgar bottle with some sort of oracle rising from the mess...

Good news! I think I have developed auto-brewery syndrome. Woo Hoo! Maybe Donald Ford will book me for a speaking tour around the province.

Re: What to do if you think you have a really bad batch (tainted)?

Unfortunately, I suspect that rather than providing useful feedback to the production and packaging teams, you are just causing the legal and PR teams to salivate over the invoices they will be submitting to corporate. I'd just rather shop elsewhere instead of rewarding that cynical pile.

Hammocks. They really need some hammocks in there. A splash pad might be nice too.

Re: Turncoat

As someone who has lost a business partner, it does not surprise me plans can be delayed and derailed. Friendship and supporting family means a whole lot more than a piddly little enterprise. Don't even get me started on the paperwork and sorting of the articles of corporation. They can obviously be...

Re: Is lining up for beer releases a thing of the past?

I think so, at least in Ontario. The frenzies of DFH 60 and peaking with Westy seem like ancient history. Americans still seem to clamour for hot releases (are there still lines at Hill Farmstead?), but I just don't think folks here would do it. And as the overall quality and accessibly of good bee...

Re: Beer in Convenience Stores coming early

Cool your heels on lower prices. It ain't going to happen with minimum pricing in the regime. Look at the propaganda. It never mentions pricing. Just convenience. Costco will get in the game only if they think their members would like to pick up beer without making an additional stop somewhere. Also...

Re: Evergreen 2024 Craft Beer Fest

I have to say I'm tired of spending money to get into an event to shop/consume. I get that these things take money to stage, but still. Like car/boat/whatever shows. Show me some real value. Perhaps if they didn't upcharge for the seminars the entrance fee to buy more would be more palatable.

Re: What're you drinking right now?

GLB Mayflowers. I'm really digging this. Nicely balanced and clean. Pretty dry, which I prefer. Sadly, I'm going to guess this was a one off, since I don't see it on their site anymore. It could have even been a happy accident as the character reminds me a bit of something that might have been cause...
