Re: Evergreen 2024 Craft Beer Fest

I reckon it's gotta be hard to run festivals nowadays - rising costs across the board and changing consumer tastes as evidenced in this thread. I think most of us are on the same page with how we feel about festivals, but we haven't been replaced by the younger generation. I wonder who the audience ...

Re: Steel Wheel

It's funny you should mention them. I was driving back from Michigan and was looking on Google Maps to see if there was anything along the way I hadn't been to before. This popped up, but I ended up going to the new Barrel Heart in Dundas instead. So I guess I'm not being terribly helpful :) But 4.9...

Re: Barrel Heart Brewing and Blending

I was driving through the area and stopped at the new Barrel Heart taproom in Dundas. Great spot right on the main strip, a block away from Shawn & Ed. About a 30 seat taproom in a pretty historic building, with a patio with a number of tables out front. I don't believe the patio is fenced in wh...

Re: Goose Island Black Friday & Bourbon County Stout

Well, Goose Island Toronto may not have done Black Friday, but it doesn't stop them from having BCBS throughout the year. Stopped in today and they had '22 on tap.

GSU Pub - University of Toronto

I thought I'd show some love for the GSU (Graduate Students Union) Pub on Bancroft Ave. on the University of Toronto campus downtown. I stopped in yesterday and was very happy to see it still going strong - I used to go there regularly as a student at UofT in the 90s. It hasn't changed much over tim...

Re: The Poacher - Burlington

Thanks for starting this up @hopdevil!

I have never heard of the Poacher but it sounds/looks like a cool spot. Just a couple of stops down the GO line so will definitely go and check it out soon!

Re: Booze in Toronto Parks - 2023 Pilot Program

The parks not included are commonly because of NIMBY councillors and residents. The city does have a generic sign it uses that is less zazzy and more easy to miss. Yeah, a few grandstanding councillors acting like they know better than everyone. Kudos to the council as a whole, they voted down the ...

Re: Godspeed - Je Me Souviens

Very random – I was out for dinner tonight at Pai downtown which is a very hopping Thai resto. It's a Sleeman account (kind of a rarity nowadays), and they had the "HIPL de Rivière-Trouble" (hazy India pale lager) on tap. On special too, no less. It was ok but certainly better than a major...

Re: Any new beers at Rogers Centre this year?

I can't answer your question but I would like to go and check out that "outfield district" at some point this season. Ironically my first game this year will be the Guardians in a couple of weeks when I'm there for A Quick Beer recording. They also have an outfield district (40 beers on ta...

Re: Godspeed - Je Me Souviens

Definitely curious to see what they'll bring in. The mix packs are always a treat. They have some newer brews I haven't had like P'tite Maudite. For $5 I used to get 20oz pours of Trois Pistoles at a hostel in Tadoussac...plenty of fun, but fuzzy, memories from those trips. ***Can't share too much ...

Re: Godspeed - Je Me Souviens

Yeah, Unibroue was one of my early beer obsessions and one of the reasons I started beer writing. I still buy the mix pack from TBS from time to time. Want a crazy internet beer trip? Re: Godspeed - Je Me Souviens

This event is back at the end of the month, with a feature on Unibroue. They were one of my early faves back in the day and nice to still see them getting some love. Curious to see what beers they’ll have.
