Re: Halo Brewery

Anyone try the IIPA yet? I'm curious if they've gotten better with their hoppier beers. It's just far enough away, that it's hard to justify a trip. So far it is their tart beers that have been very good and interesting. The hoppy beers not so much yet. Hopefully this is just the learning curve of ...

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

If it left the brewery 3 weeks ago it's already late. I believe that the canning run that is going to the LCBO only happened on March 21. They posted an extensive set of photos of cans on the line and OWTF boxes that day, with printed cans, not stickered ones. ie. https://twitter.com/GreatLakesBeer...

Re: Rainhard Brewing

I think it would be a little trickier to get there by TTC. The 71A Runnymede bus will leave you with a six-block walk up Symes. Yes, and six blocks aren't really six blocks, it's about 300 m from the Cobalt/Symes stop on St. Clair. The pedestrian/bike shortcut from St. Clair is one that the brewery...

Re: worst Ontario beer of 2015?

Indie Alehouse's Pumpkin Sour -- if you ever wanted to know what pumpkin cough syrup would taste like. Not to be confused with their Pumpkin Abbey of past years. Blood Brothers' Inner IPA (? -- was brought to a party we held, I didn't see the tag but was told it was their IPA) -- tasted young, infec...

Will there be a fungible exclamation point involved in this?

Re: Shawn and Ed Brewing

had the Burdock west coast pilsner (bottle) yesterday. not bad. almost good. a bit sweet, i found. and not bitter, but a nice enough nose. i'd give it a solid 6.5/10. Yeah, my feeling is it hasn't been as good as the first batches were. They are a small player, and I suspect that they have challeng...

The early batches of Burdock's West Coast Pilsner were quite good.

Re: Best Bottle Shops

I'm definitely going to try to get out to Rainhard. The bottle shop page shows 4 beers. In people's experience have they always had a good amount of stock on hand or is the fridge near empty often? Rainhard's bottle shop page on their website is not updated. However, they do dependably post what wi...

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

Just opened a bottle... not at all to my liking (and, I quite liked last years). It almost has a sweet artificial grape candy taste to it or something - a little bizarre. It's giving me a childhood sense memory of grape "fun dip lik'm'aid" or "bottlecaps"?! Nickelbrook has alway...

Re: Great Lakes

I live across the street from Indie, and would go more often that I already do, too, if I knew what they had daily (especially the guest, collabs, and cask beers that they churn through so quickly). Alas, my only recourse is to keep an eye on Untappd. Or walk outside and look through their front wi...

Re: Great Lakes

So for those of us without cars, is there any reasonable way to get there by transit or bike from central Toronto? Transit looks like 50 minutes each way. Biking is reasonable at just under half an hour, but Google Maps tells me to follow the Queensway which makes me a bit hesitant. Is there a bike...
