Re: Bar Hop 2 (Peter St)
Bar Hop 2 has been a bit off for a while now. I haven't seen the ground floor open for what seems like years, or at least every time I pass by. I've been a couple of times when the roof patio is open and that's all that is open, so no inside space at all. King St was doing quite well from what I co...

Re: Bar Hop 2 (Peter St)
Both Peter Street and the original location are my go-tos when I'm in that part of the city, which granted isn't a lot these days. Dropped by King on a Saturday afternoon back in the winter and it was very quiet. Been about a year since I was at Peter Street, but the rooftop was very busy on a weekd...

Re: Around the World Beer Trip...where would you go?
Most of my trip planning these days has a broader focus, but a beer tour of Czechia is still high on my list. I'd also like to go back to Belgium and tour the Trappist breweries; we were only in Brussels, granted we went to Cantillon of course. I can't say the improved/expanded availability of good ...

Re: Where would you go for 4 or 5 days?
I just got back from Nashville, granted it was for work, but I could see that route being interesting- specifically with a stop in Cincinnati. A friend of mine was there earlier this year and the German brewing history looked fascinating, specifically the beer caves. The Over-the-Rhine neighbourhood...

Re: Beertown
For a while there I thought Bier Markt was going to be the thing that filled that gap. They had a few locations, and I was seeing them on restaurant chain gift cards and stuff like that. Seems like they didn't make it for whatever reason. Actually, this is kind of spot on; Beertown feels like an up...

Re: Beertown
Beertown opened a location in Whitby. Always nice to get a new (good) beer focused place in Durham Region, since despite a few solid breweries it's not as saturated as the rest of the GTA. Food was good, better than the typical chains in that part of Whitby, with a good selection of rotating draft, ...

Re: Non-Alcoholic Beer
Collective Arts Guava Gose. Gotta be one of the best I've tried yet for similarity to the original. Sure it's a bit easier to pull off when you've got the sour ferm, salt and fruit puree to work with, but it really is good. I've always liked their regular guava gose, so it's a win-win since you coul...

Re: 2024 Fall Importation LCBO Release
I very much enjoy seasonality from fall through winter. My favourite time of year. I'm imagining there'll be a release of festbiers/marzens etc. as well.

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS
Another fresh(ish) batch of Orval has hit the shelves, bottled Feb 19 of this year. Looks like my wish has come true as this is nearly 5 years of consistent shipments since it came back in early 2020.

Re: What's Your Favourite Ontario West Coast IPA?
Agitation by Common Good- really solid west coast. Citrusy, piney, firm bitterness but had the malt to balance it; lands somewhere in profile amongst the Ontario classics like Boneshaker, Mad Tom, Lone Pine. Essentially nailed all the markers you'd want in the style.

Re: Molson Coors bringing its ‘craft’ beer Blue Moon to Canada
That always struck me as such a botched opportunity though. This hyper local, community focused market partners with an international conglomerate instead of one of our many local breweries.

Re: St. John's, Newfoundland
My mom and sister went to Nfld last summer and brought back a couple beers. It was probably already on the radar, but the stuff from Quidi Vidi was solid. They make the gimmicky Iceberg beer, but they've got a lot more than that. Also the location looks absolutely stunning. Tried one from Dildo Brew...

Re: Evergreen 2024 Craft Beer Fest
When I was first getting into craft beer I absolutely loved the festivals. I didn't mind paying more to get access to a bunch of breweries and to try a bunch of stuff all in one fun evening. Over time they've become less and less appealing to me, but I think that's saying more about me and where I ...
