Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS
I was able to buy Fullers Vintage 2023 this past weekend at the LCBO on Innes in Ottawa. Also I spotted this on the LCBO website, a possible Christmas pack? https://www.lcbo.com/en/westmalle-gift-pack-3-glass-34145 Nice! I've been wanting a Westmalle glass for quite some time, I need to boost my Tr...

Re: Aging canned Unibroue vs bottled
I think I like that mix better as well; Blanche is easy to find standalone and I never cared much for Ephemere. Will have to keep an eye out on my next empties run.

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS
Ok this year I've got to actually grab some St. Bernardus Xmas Ale. For some reason I've never had that one, despite loving and buying all their other stuff. And agreed on the winter spiced beers in general, I've still got a bottle of Gouden Carolus Christmas that I've been saving in case it doesn't...

Re: Shrinkflation
It'll be the last straw for me if my favourite euros downsize from 500 ml to 473 ml. I've never liked 473 since it's always just a little underfilled in most of my glasses. 500 ml is generally perfect, although if we're talking a true imperial pint they should be 568 ml, however only a handful of UK...

Re: Aging canned Unibroue vs bottled
If anything cans will retain a fresher, or closer to canning date flavour than bottles and should remain drinkable as long or even longer. Downside is generally some of the changes attributed to aging in bottles, especially that sherry-like result of slow oxidation may not happen; or will take far l...

Re: Best Ontario pilsners
I've been finding myself drinking a lot of Pilsner Urquell too this summer. I think it's because Sklepnik is possibly my favourite Ontario beer at the moment, but I'm not often able to get down there and Urquell is the next best thing. That said, I know Sonnen Hill Primo has been mentioned around he...

Re: Cincinnati
Cincinnati has popped up on my radar whereas until recently I would've fallen into the "why tf would you visit this place" camp. A friend visited recently and did one of the historic beer tours; the old cellars and German brewing history looked especially interesting. I had an idea of the ...

Re: UK update
It seems like we had a nice little UK import renaissance for a couple seasons during the pandemic; The Sam Smith gift pack was back and the Porter showed up standalone too, we got some new and unique entries like Timothy Taylor Landlord and Allsop's Burton IPA, as well as a number of Scottish craft ...

Re: What're you drinking right now?
Einbecker Ainpockisch 1378 I've only even had the Ur-bock Hell from this brewery before, but noticed this on shelves the other day. It's great, and so different from what local breweries are making. I wish instead of bringing in imports like Brewdog and Omnipollo (okay fine, they kinda brew locally...

Re: Grand Rapids, Michigan
Great recaps @Cass! Grand Rapids is indeed one of the best beer destinations anywhere, a must visit for beer aficionados. Hopefully I'll get back there sooner than later, we barely scratched the surface on our last visit.

Re: Muddy York Brewing
That's awesome news. For years this location was supposed to be the Stouffville Brewery, but a number of issues ended that and they ended up rebranding as Falcon Brewery and moving to Ajax. Muddy York is a great brewery, it'll be nice to see the building restored and Stouffville finally get its brew...

Re: Anchor Brewing Ceases Operations
https://vinepair.com/booze-news/anchor-employees-brewery-takeover-bid/ Not sure if anything will come of this, but it would be amazing if the employees pulled it off. Seems like the best progression so to speak; a storied brewery saved in the 1960s going on to pioneer the modern craft beer era, sav...

Re: Anchor Brewing Ceases Operations
Very disappointing news. Like many, Anchor was one of my earlier forays into the world of American craft beer and Liberty Ale still stands out as a "wow moment" when I first tried it. It'll be a shame if rumblings from the workers are true and Sapporo turns the old brewery into just anothe...

Re: Beer Spa
Also Pohjala, do go. We didn't do the sauna thing but the whole facility is fantastic. In fact I can't recommend Tallinn enough, a gorgeous city and a seemingly underrated country in general. Lots of very good local breweries and craft imports too; I was impressed for such a small country, they pun...

Re: Beer Spa
I've had friends keep telling me about this place because I'm the "craft beer guy". Doesn't really seem like my thing though, too gimmicky and I don't really care for spas in the first place. I'd rather just rent a cottage or cabin on my own terms. The Clear Lake beers I've tried weren't v...
