Re: Grand Rapids, Michigan

Here I was thinking it wasn't so long ago I was in GR but damn, that was 5 years ago. Some spots we enjoyed (apart from the obvious ones) were Brewery Vivant, cool location in an old church; The Mitten which is in an old firehall and did "pizza flights"; and Creston, a smaller brewery in t...

Re: Town Brewery

Cool announcement from Town, they'll be operating a pop-up space in the old Whitby Pump House for the summer. Looks like it'll host a beer garden, mini market, special events and more. Fantastic brewery, definitely worth the trip to Durham. As added incentive for hazy IPA lovers, they have a collab ...

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

They've gone and gentrified makgeolli! lol

I'd actually like to try this, I have fond memories of drinking makgeolli in the countryside of SK. You could buy it from little carts on the side of hiking trails and whatnot.

Re: 2023 LCBO Summer Release

Ah, I should've separated those thoughts better. I couldn't find Equilibrium on the LCBO website. I found the Dupont listing, but it doesn't seem like the latest order has rolled out yet, at least near me anyway.

Doesn't seem like it's even listed yet, I can't find it on the website. I'm also hoping Dupont will hurry up and get here soon, been craving some of that lately.

Re: Pedal Pubs in Toronto

Looks like we're getting drinking in TO parks this summer afterall: https://www.blogto.com/city/2023/05/toronto-allow-drinking-parks-summer-theres-catch/ For the click adverse, the "catch" (wouldn't be BlogTO without a little clickbait) is that it will only be allowed in wards whose counc...

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

Distribution of this the Karma pack was a little disappointing, didn't show up in any of the LCBOs I regularly visit and doesn't seem to be available for online ordering. Timothy Taylor Landlord seems to be disappearing quickly too, I swear I'd seen some available at my local but alas it was gone b...

Re: Bellwoods Brewery

Moving to short cans for some brands too. I have to wonder if we'll see more short can offerings from breweries to keep price points down amidst increasing costs, definitely a way to reduce sticker shock since I imagine most people don't do a cost per ml calculation when they're staring at the price.

Re: Best canned "lawnmower" beer?

Left Field Ice Cold is a summer staple for me, straight out of the can. Gardening, yard work; whatever I might be doing outside, it fits the bill. Seems to stay ice cold too since those small cans disappear quickly. Seconded on GLB lager too, if not just for the fact a 2-4 is fifty bucks.

Re: Why don't brewery taprooms stay open late?

more responsible, community oriented; often family friendly even. Late night drinking somewhat goes against that ethos. I agree with your analysis, but these things can co-exist. A bar certainly can be friendly during the day and inviting at night without being irresponsible or lacking in community...

Re: Why don't brewery taprooms stay open late?

My thought is that it's especially this part: "Avoiding late night intoxication issues?" The general vibe I get from most breweries and their taproom spaces is that they are more responsible, community oriented; often family friendly even. Late night drinking somewhat goes against that eth...

Re: Pine

Amsterdam Boneshaker is the other one that comes to mind when I think of that classic west coast profile, it's definitely got a piney element. Probably still my favourite from that early 2010s crop of Ontario IPAs along with Lone Pine and Mad Tom. Amsterdam has pretty wide distribution, so I imagin...

Re: Pine

I tried Shakedown from Big Rig and in my notes have pine listed as being fairly prominent. I was actually quite impressed with it overall as far as Big Rig goes, one of the better ones I've had from them lately. Amsterdam Boneshaker is the other one that comes to mind when I think of that classic we...
