Re: Non-Alcoholic Beer
I tried Collective Arts Emerald Stout NA beer. It was too wort like for my liking. That is the taste of unfermented beer. However it had some nice esters making it drinkable. Also, I tried Erdinger Weiss NA beer. This was much more to my liking. While it did have a little wort taste to it, it was we...

Re: Toby's Pub - College St.
I think it was called Trapper. If I remember correctly, it had corn in its grain bill, and I wasn't impressed with it. However, I think I only had it once or twice. As far as sharing the yeast strain, it is possible, but I wouldn't know.

Re: Toby's Pub - College St.
If I recall correctly, Michael Jackson described Gritstone as half English brown ale, half Belgian brown ale. Like Creemore, it used a yeast strain that was inconsistent. I think for both Creemore and Gritstone you could describe it as good or excellent depending on the batch, so that is a complemen...

Re: Toby's Pub - College St.
Toby was my favourite beer back in the day, before I knew about craft. That was back during my first year of university. Thanks for bringing back some memories.

Re: Beer in Convenience Stores coming early
Last time I was in Montreal, I found it hard to find deps with a good beer selection. Sure there were a few, but you really had to search them out. I hope we get a better selection in Ontario convenience stores. We'll see. Now in the states, I can see a good selection of beer in many stores.

Re: What're you drinking right now?
I'll say this. Stouts should be hoppy. I know not all of them are, but the ones I seem to like are usually hoppy. For example, yeti, ten fiddy and even Fuller's has some hop presence. I can taste the hops in Guinness too. Having said that I am not as picky for freshness as others, even for hoppy bee...

Beer in Convenience Stores coming early
It seems by August 1st, we will have beer in convenience stores in Ontario. With a big payment to Molbatts, the Ontario government is speeding things up.

Arbru brewery
Although a bit long winded, I found this YouTube video on Arbru brewery from Eastern Ontario. They are a solar powered brewery, and they are completely off grid. I find that very inspiring. I hope their beer is good.

Re: Jasper, AB and Revelstoke, BC
I tried the Banff IPA, and I thought the Jasper one was better. More hop flavour and character. I did not try any other beers from Jasper, though.

Re: Jasper, AB and Revelstoke, BC
I was in Jasper not last summer, but the summer before. There is a microbrewery there. I believe it is Jasper Brewering Company. At a restaurant in town, I had a glass of their west coast IPA (sorry I forget the name), and I found it well made. IIRC, it was a shade darker than most IPAs, which added...

Re: What's Your Favourite Ontario West Coast IPA?
Speaking of west coast IPAs that are no longer available in Ontario, my overall favourite was Green Flash, when we briefly had it imported here. I hope it makes a comeback. The hop flavour and complexity is intense for this one.

Re: Left Field Brewery
I finally made it to the Liberty Village location today. Glad to see another brewery destination in LV. I tried the DiMaggio, which is a pale ale with fuggles and centennial. It is a colab with Volo, and it was so good I ordered a second. Fuggles is one of my favourite hops, and it is well showcase...

Re: What're you drinking right now?
I just did a brewery crawl in the east end of Toronto. I started at Eastbound brewery, and I had a glass of their Hefeweizen. Sorry I can't remember the actual name of the beer,. However it was very tasty and well made to style. Highly recommended. Next we went to Saulter Street Brewery, where I had...

Re: What's Your Favourite Ontario West Coast IPA?
Thanks so much to Muskokan for sending me some free beer. I just received shipment this morning, so I had Lower West Side with my lunch. It is a shade darker than most west coast ipas, which I can appreciate some malt complexity. It definitely has the hop flavour to balance. It's taste starts off a ...
