Re: Best Ontario pilsners
I like both Pilsner Urquell and Godspeed's offerings, but Pilsner Urquell is cheaper and easier to find. I did a side by side of PU and Godspeed's pilsner a while ago, and while different, I couldn't choose a favourite. They are both good.

Re: UK update
Fuller's is another one I don't see around anymore. We used to get their double IPA, vintage ale, ESB, stout, and London Pride. I think as a replacement to London Pride, I have seen the Greene King Abbot Ale. Unfortunately, that one has little hop flavour, but the English yeast strain is nicely pres...

Re: London, England pubs
They have a Wheatsheaf here too, which also dates to the 1800s. I stopped in for a pint.

Re: London, England pubs
Yes Landlord was good. I think I enjoyed hogs back traditional English ale even better, as it had a stronger hop taste. I also had a nice porter, which I cannot remember the name now. Fuller's ESB is also highly regarded. I also got to visit Castle Rock brewery in Nottingham. They had a nice pale al...

Re: London, England pubs
I am reviving an old thread, as I am currently in London, England. Since I am staying in SOHO downtown, there are plenty of pubs with an excellent selection of beer, including cask ales often. I won't ask for recommendations as there are lots of decent pubs. It is first time here, and the beer cultu...

Re: 2023 LCBO Summer Release
Originally, Kriek Boon was a great unsweetened lambic. Last time I tried a plain Kriek Boon, a few years ago at a bar, I found it was sweetened an much less complex. It seems their Marriage Parfait brand are their authentic lambics now. I hope the Kriek Boon the LCBO brings in is like the original, ...

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS
Not seeing this on the LCBO website but an interesting Saison available now for $7.05 for a corked 375 ml bottle. Collaboration between Blaugies and Hill Farmstead. Haven't tried it yet but looks promising. https://www.ratebeer.com/Ratings/Beer/Beer-Ratings.asp?BeerID=201329 I found this at the LCB...

Re: For Fun: ChatGPT Throwdown!
Microsoft Edge has it integrated into the browser. I guess it is using the same database/engine, but was unsure before.

Hmmm... got a different answer, when using the same website, when I asked the same question again. It was similar though.

I used https://chat.openai.com/chat
I don't have a Windows computer, so I can't try it on Edge. Maybe that is the difference.

Re: Something in the Water
See, I'd love to try that oatmeal stout or ESB, but instead they send things like their lime lager or (yet another) hazy IPA to the LCBO- thus I've yet to try anything from them. Good to hear the beer is good though, I usually grab food and a beer in LV before I go to shows at the Amphitheatre, but...

Re: Old Flame Brewing's new location in Toronto Distillery District
I popped in to the Distillery District location recently. I can report that their wet hop beer was tasty and fresh, despite it being a bit past the harvest season. I will have to check out their other brews, when I have time. I don't think they have a kitchen, but it's a good place to drop by, if yo...

Re: Something in the Water
I got their Outro ESB to go. I got the last two, and I think it is seasonal, so I am not sure if there is more. However, it too was very good. It had plenty of malty complexity and plenty of hop flavour. It was better than some others I have had in the province.

Something in the Water
I went to this brewery (the one in Liberty Village Toronto), last night. Their oatmeal stout was fantastic. It was an English variety, so I enjoyed the hops and the character-full taste and aroma due to the English ale yeast strain. I also had one of their NE IPAs, which was well made. Their gingerb...
