Re: General LCBO Debate & Discussion Thread

It's $330 USD ($444.44 CAD) at Premier Gourmet. That seems like a price in order to keep it in stock so they can say they have it. I recently visited PG and oh my are prices meant to keep things on wire racks. Never mind the terrible exchange. It’s around 1.4x now, but even at a more normal 1.2x, i...

No. In small letters with a green box it says coming soon.

Understandable, as they are often released on Black Friday.

Re: Goose Island Black Friday & Bourbon County Stout

I vaguely remember them being expensive when I was there years ago. Have you ever been to Brewed and Bottled in Lewiston? It rings a bell, but not sure if I've been there. I've only been to Lewiston once or twice and I know it has a nice little downtown. I rarely would make a trip specifically ther...

Re: Goose Island Black Friday & Bourbon County Stout

From PG's site: The annual Bourbon County Beer Release is here, and Premier Gourmet has the best selection available in WNY! In addition to the 2024 Bourbon County Brand Original Stout, we'll have lots of different varieties available, including inventory from past vintages! There will be 17 differ...

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

Nice to have this back... I think it's been several years since we've seen it. https://www.lcbo.com/en/cuvee-van-de-keizer-blauw-288696 I don't follow the Belgium beers too closely, but $12.95 for a 750 mL bottle strikes me as being quite a deal. SAQ sells it for 16 dollars, to enforce the point.

Re: Goose Island Black Friday & Bourbon County Stout

LCBO has two listed BCs (Stout and Banana Foster Stout) as coming soon.

One unit of each is allowed.

$24.95 each.

Re: The Beer Store Changes Pricing Displays

Tangential.

Presumably as a response from these places displaying the pre-tax price, the LCBO now has a text box that informs online shoppers of their pricing. British-vacation inspired:

ALL-IN(CLUDED) PRICE
Includes tax and bottle deposit

Re: Beer at Ontario Costcos

Tangential Piece in the star (paywall) highlights some prices and wines at Costco. Some seem to be 10% or so cheaper than LCBO. Also praises the wine buyer, which I’ve heard about their American stores. Hopefully I’ll be wrong and there will be some smaller producers closer to the warehouse like Tow...

Re: Beer at Ontario Costcos

This was a decade ago (and not Ontario), but I remember seeing a case of Sierra Nevada for $25 USD in one of the most expensive states in the US. Finally, we will get the chance to technically say, it's kind of like that here. I predict it's going to be like the selection in Quebec, but with GLB and...

Re: 2024 Fall Importation LCBO Release

I, too would like to see more Quebec beer. Le Trou Du Diable Le Coq Barrel Aged looks to be phantom release.

Interestingly, because the SAQ doesn’t carry much Quebec beer, it is like a dollar or two more expensive than the LCBO.

Re: Stepping away from beer reviews

I have way fewer reviews than even 1,000, but I can see that others have moved away from reviews or scores as they rack up numbers. Because I keep a hard cap on beer consumption, I don’t love having a beer that turns out to be not great, but subsequent times would really be preventable. Untappd is h...

Re: Stepping away from beer reviews

I don’t believe in objective taste. All of my ratings are to my preference because I can’t do anything else.

Though others can use apps for however they see fit.

Re: Stepping away from beer reviews

I like the verbosity of Beeradvocate much more than the mostly scores of Untappd. It’s a shame that Untappd has basically taken over. One of the good things I like about Untappd is the lack of granularity. Perhaps many have a finer palate than I do, but I could not reliably differentiate a 91 and 92...
