Re: Booze in Toronto Parks - 2023 Pilot Program

The parks not included are commonly because of NIMBY councillors and residents.

The city does have a generic sign it uses that is less zazzy and more easy to miss.

Re: Any new beers at Rogers Centre this year?

I actually was thinking of bringing in water, but a non-alcoholic beer is an even better idea. I can't say if these are the only ones available. Perhaps if sales are good they will improve selection. I did remember last year seemed better. I guess they took the same approach as roster construction. ...

Re: Godspeed - Je Me Souviens

I had a can of the P'tite Maudite this year and it was solid.

Unibroue's golden age was a bit before my time, so I don't have nostalgia as others do.

Re: Any new beers at Rogers Centre this year?

Funny how the pricing there is so divorced from the real world pricing of those beers. Henderson golden Ale (assuming that's the Rush beer) is $3.40, Jelly King is $6.50. They clearly just price everything at what they think the highest amount they can get away with is. I'd totally get a Jelly King...

Re: Any new beers at Rogers Centre this year?

From user drrdf, via Reddit.

Craft:

Henderson Golden Ale and Bellwoods Jelly King.

Pseudo-Craft:

Mill Street Organic and IPA

All priced at $14. Personally, I'd bring my own non-alcoholic drink and get something better after the game.

They switched to the spring biennial format. They said harvests and timing were the issues. I think they were overworked for that time of the year.

Re: Breweries closing and/or restructuring and/or bought out

Tough spot for bottle shops. As you mention the lack of wholesale pricing for me only makes sense if there is something that doesn't ship. I wonder if Quebec's system is better than ours. Depaneurs are cheaper than our bottle shops, but for good beer, I wouldn't really call it great. Five to seven d...

Re: Bar Volo 2.0

I always recommend people their College location, if they can make it out to the less convenient location.

The Tuesday special is only Volo stuff now, but they have Cantillon's Vigneronne on tap.

Barrel Heart Brewing and Blending

No longer in Ancaster. Now at 104 King Street West in Dundas. I haven't been, but they're in a cute old post office building. Definite upgrade from their old place. Interior is well thought-out, too. I plan to go when the weather gets a bit warmer. I have no relationship with the brewery, but they a...

Re: Bar Volo 2.0

I give a lot of credit to Volo for breaking the mold on tickets for the releases. I think they came to the conclusion (which is something I've felt about local drinkers) that there isn't a huge market for advance ticket sales for this kind of thing. They probably do better and it's overall less of ...

They're on the list. I highly expect it will be like previous years which is a no-ticket drop in.
That's good. I've looked at a few others around the world and they have some pretty steep tickets.

Re: Down to my last bottle of Boon Gueuze

Roland and Russell is the one for Boon.

The last time Boon Geuze was at the LCBO was in a Christmas pack years ago.

Do not believe there has been an attempt to bring it back.

Also tangential, but hopefully something positive comes out of the $50 million LCBO thing. It's at the SAQ for $6.6.
