Re: Can prices going up due to tariffs
It surprises me to hear there is no domestic can manufacturing. It's not like making a can is as hard as a vaccine. I doubt the equipment cost is even that crazy. While I understand a large US manufacturer can probably price well due to critical mass, there is still a huge beverage industry in Cana...

There was a piece in the National about all but one Canadian aluminum plants (foundries?) located in Quebec.

Re: 2025 Spring Import/Quebec/Ontario/BC LCBO Release
Would still like R+R to change their tactics to get some Boon geuze in stores. I wonder how R&R are doing nowadays. Haven't seen them around the forum for a while. I wonder if the LCBO beer team still does the "you're either in or out" with no explanation of why, when it comes to the ...

Re: 2025 Spring Import/Quebec/Ontario/BC LCBO Release
It will nice to have Geuze (assuming it is Oud Beersel) and Hopsinjoor back. I'm looking forward to try Ename Pater. I'm not sure if it has changed, but Horizon Beers currently partners with Oud Beersel, alongside lots of others in Walloon. The listing is their standard geuze. Would still like R+R ...

That BC sour seems to be pretty widely thought of as the best widely available sour in the Lower Mainland.

Re: LCBO & the Trade Wars
There was that case from Quebec/New Brunswick that seemed to be in the news for a while and got a lot of coverage because of the legal challenge. Funnily called "free the beer". I always felt that was kind of like a "populist" beer story because it was some old man who wanted to...

Re: LCBO & the Trade Wars
I've always wondered how my brother regularly orders wine from Blasted Church in BC to Ontario, but no breweries outside of Ontario will ship here. I've seen some breweries (a couple in the east IIRC) that will ship to Ontario through their web stores. I don't think it's technically legal, as beer ...

I'd usually go to these types of things, but have a hard time paying >$12 per serving.
Tuesdays used to be all Ontario stuff, but now it's like their main location of only house beer.

Re: LCBO & the Trade Wars
Our oligarchs have taken so much that we lack the discretionary dollars that we should have if corporate power was limited to a reasonable level.
That shelf space would look great with some Canadian stuff.

Re: Bar Volo 2.0
College Volo has a mini Tilquin feature starting February 1st. All kegged stuff, which, in my experience, sometimes lacks versus their bottles. I had the white peach in Aylmer and it was excellent. Abricot (Lambic W. Apricots) Clémentine (Lambic W. Clementines) Gueuze (Lambic Gueuze) Kriek De Scharb...

Toronado Craft Beer, San Francisco Listed For Sale
I've heard the service was crappy and they were intolerant of lots of people. Hopefully it gets replaced by something better.

Via their instagram on the 21st. Email on the 23rd. ICYMI we released our first-ever tall cans packaged at Wagstaff last week (Bird Lite Lager 🐦) and they won’t be the last! We’re swapping our shorties for TALL CANS, bringing you bigger cans and better value of the beer you know and love. Want to k...

Re: Best Ontario Beer to Stockpile?
I was thinking about this, too. I assume no IPAs, most added adjunct stuff, and higher alcohol may be preferable. I've always been a fan of GLB's Pompous, but it's already pretty reasonably priced. Sonnen Hill's beer is a total of 23% off pre-holiday prices. Interprovincial beer sales would be reall...
