Re: Would beers from the past be highly regarded today?
To the original question "Would beers we enjoyed in the past that are no longer around be thought of as highly today?" I've been enjoying craft beer to some degree or another since it first became available in Ontario with Brick Lager. (yes, it's true, I started drinking beer when I was tw...

Re: Would beers from the past be highly regarded today?
I have often thought about this in the reverse sense. What beers are there today that are fine, but don't necessarily stand out. But had they been available 10 or more years ago would have blown you away. Consider IPAs for which there are sooooo many available today, and in a few different sub-style...

Re: Would beers from the past be highly regarded today?
I agree with much that has been said here. Regarding Canadian beer, we had some good ones in days gone by (Dragon's Breath Pale Ale, Gritstone, Conners Best Bitter, ....). However, I remember that the now dead famous beer author Michael Jackson (not the singer) never gave Canada a five star beer. A...

Re: Pedal Pubs in Toronto
Canadian cities are legalizing alcohol in parks. Some are celebrating, others worry it's a slippery slope After hearing Holyday at the council debate about this, I believe he's simply a contrary opinion to fulfill a "both sides" requirement for this article. He doesn't want it and it isn'...

The Hamilton Brewery Blue Collar Pale Ale.
Have not had it for a few years. I know I liked it....and proved tonight I still do.
Introduced in 2015 at $3.05 Currently in the LCBO for $3.25
P.S. It's actually brewed at Railway City in St. Thomas

Henderson's 2021 Beast Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Amber Ale Despite the fact I've never had much of a liking for bourbon, I have come to love bourbon barrel-aged beers. Mostly these are stouts, this one is an amber ale. I loved it. Great flavour, appropriately packaged in a 375 mL bottle given tha...

Re: Henderson Brewing Co
Sometimes I wonder if there are breweries that are just built to be sold. Hendersons comes to mind. They just scaled fast, but the beer is nothing remarkable. In fact, I've had samples at the brewery that made me scratch my head. Like, you couldn't nail this style? This partial quote comes from ano...

Re: East Lansing, MI
One thing that still strikes me about the US craft beer scene, is how many breweries even the smaller to midsize cities tend to support. And not just the volume, but the density and fact that they're often within the more traditional urban boundaries of the city. Here it seems that outside of Toron...

Re: Bellwoods Brewery
I was pleasantly surprised to find Ghost Orchid at the 'BO. I don't think I've ever seen it there before. It has been mentioned elsewhere in the forum, but I'll mention it again here. I recommend frequently checking LCBO Beer Inventory ... a better way to explore! I occasionally find a beer in the ...
