Re: Turncoat

I was under the impression that Turncoat was a contract brew at Dragan and never really got going on a brick and mortar location. (I had crossed them off the list on my 'Try every brewery' quest on that basis.) Tough to say from their website / Facebook. Ah, so a 5th St. Kitts brewery. I've heard o...

Yah, I think they are all in the "under the radar" category. Locke St. does have an LCBO listing, and I think they had a second one at one point in time.

Re: Turncoat

That is a strange way to find out a brewery for sure. Never heard of them either. It's a bit weird though, it says on their site that they have a physical location, but there are no hours posted nor are there any pictures of their space on their Instagram. Going back they said a year ago that they ...

Turncoat

I had another "I've never heard of them before" experience today; it was a little strange. My wife was at a funeral, and at the luncheon, she sees a strange beer and sends me a photo. Never seen it or heard of it. Turns out a relative of the deceased is one of three partners in this relati...

Steel Wheel

There are so many beweries in Ontario that every once in a while on this forum someone will say "I've never heard of them". So I'm at an event at The Cave in Toronto above Lee's Palace and I see a guy wearing a Steel Wheel t-shirt and I say to myself "I've never heard of them". :...

Re: What to do if you think you have a really bad batch (tainted)?

I don't think there is anything wrong with getting in touch with the brewery, explaining what you've told us, and expressing your concern. If you use good EQ and aren't being unjustly accusatory, they should appreciate hearing from you. The last thing they would want is for some bad beer to be out t...

Re: The Poacher - Burlington

Being from Burlington, I guess I could have / should have started a thread for this place. Thanks @hopdevil

I don't get there often - last time was last June. They had a good beer selection including two or three from Third Moon. Food has always been good.

Re: Any new beers at Rogers Centre this year?

I had Oast House Country Ale which was available not too far away from my seats. For a public venue like this, I was quite happy with that.

Re: Any new beers at Rogers Centre this year?

What I didn't say up above is that I'm actually going to the game tomorrow. Was given some tickets unexpectedly. I Googled "beer at the Roger's Centre" and found a link to the MLB website. https://www.mlb.com/bluejays/ballpark/beer-wine-liquor I'm a bit disappointed. Almost everything is a...

Ha! Same...I call it SkyDome myself.
But I was trying to appeal to the younger crowd, some of whom are now old enough to drink, and were never alive when it was called SkyDome.
How is that for feeling old?
Thanks. You made my day.

Re: Any new beers at Rogers Centre this year?

I haven't been to, a'hem, the SkyDome in probably a few years now. Very much looking forward to seeing a good beer selection. Do I need to up the limit on my credit card first? :D

Re:  Red Herring

It strikes me that there are three different issues here. 1) Putting stupid stuff in beer. Not much to discuss in my opinion. If someone wants to make a chocolate mint stout with vanilla and jalapeno peppers, who I am I to say they shouldn't. Of course, I may not buy it. 2) Labelling beer wit...

Re: Nickel Brook Brewing

Nickel Brook has re-branded their No Bad Daze Easy Going Lager to simply Easy Going Lager. Hmmmm. Can't think of why. Turns out it isn't re-branding, but a replacement. "Please note that this new brew will be replacing our "No Bad Daze - Easy-Goin' Lager". You can still purchase No B...
