Lake of the Woods

Saw this story on CBN about Lake of the Woods aging a beer by actually putting in the lake "for six months under 20 feet of ice in water with temperatures ranging between 4° and 10° Celsius".

I hope they don't have the same problem this cheese maker did many years ago (link). :D

Re: Vancouver Updates

Perhaps the unintended side effect of so much choice and quality is that we're not blown away as much anymore; an excellent beer is the default, if that makes sense. Hard to complain about that though... You've hit the nail on the head. There have been many times in recent years that I've tried a b...

Oh man, you just brought back a memory for me of being in Calgary in 2011 and having this. I thought it was out of this world.

Sorry, not sure what you are referring to.

2022 B.C. Beer Awards

There's always a question about how meaningful these awards are - see comments below that are posted in " Ontario Brewing Awards 2021 " But I found a couple of things interesting in this story " Here are the winners of the 2022 B.C. Beer Awards ". 1) I think the number of entries...

Re: What're you drinking right now?

According to Wellington Brewery, today is International Stout Day. Who knew? (I didn't).

But I'll participate. I will be having a Henderson Export Stout this evening.

Re: Spearhead Brewing Company

Despite all the negative comments above, these guys are still going strong. I've made two on-line orders from them this year, and while I'll skip the details, I wanted to give a shout out to Stephanie Whittaker for great customer service. I want to give another shout out to Spearhead's customer ser...

Re: Burlington Brewery

It's crazy to me how undersaturated the Mississauga/Brampton/Oakville region is for breweries. Maybe there's less of a market for it there? But it seems to me nearly everywhere has a market for craft beer these days. The only new(er) ones I can think of are Skeleton Crew and Stonehooker, apart from...

Re: Great Lakes Brewpub (Queen's Quay / Jarvis)

All bars, breweries & restaurants should post basic details such as hours and location prominently on their home page, and keep it up to date. It's maddening how this info is buried on sites, if present at all. the only 2 things that need to be on a breweries website should be the hours when th...
