Re: Kalamazoo

I posted this elsewhere too, but in a recent trip to Detroit a bottle shop recommended a Wax Wings IPA to me, which I brought home and thoroughly enjoyed. I believe it was this one: https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/53044/360429/

Re: Detroit

Oh, I forgot to add before. One of the beers that was recommended to me when I was there was a Wax Wings hazy IPA, out of Kalamazoo. It was outstanding.

Re: Why don't brewery taprooms stay open late?

Are taprooms not open late? For example, Bellwoods is open until 1, Amsterdam Brewhouse until 12 or 2 depending on the day, Northern Maverick until 2. I'm sure there are some that don't say open too, I just checked a few randomly that I thought probably had later hours. I think you'll definitely fin...

Re: Detroit

I was just in Detroit for an extended weekend, figured this thread could use dusting off. Breweries: Detroit have a few, but honestly they're not as saturated as most places are these days. I gather that's changing in time. Faisan was the standout place for me. They're pretty new and still finding t...

Re: Pine

I noticed Karma Simcoe on LCBO shelves. I haven't tried it myself, but you'd think that would be kinda piney?

Re: Pine

Pine seems like a flavour profile that has fallen out of favour a bit over the years. I haven't had a Lone Pine in ages, I should pick a few up.

Re: New York/Manhattan/Brooklyn

Thanks!

I had As Is on the list already, but the other two are new to me. City Swiggers could definitely be on the agenda since it's by the museums.

Re: Badlands Brewing Caledon

I checked out a Badlands tap takeover at the Wooly in Guelph last night. Badlands tap takeovers are ridiculous. They're just like "Here's 18 hazy IPAs, a festbier, a stout and a porter."

The porter was incredible.

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

I had a Bellwoods A Stout with Coffee (https://www.lcbo.com/en/bellwoods-brewery-a-stout-with-coffee-30366) the other day and thought it strongly resembled my memory of Peche. Possibly a little stronger on the coffee and a little more approachable at 5%. Reminded me why I grew to love that brewery b...

Some interesting stuff on there. A few Euro offerings I've never tried and a couple of big US IPAs that are always fun.
