Re: Non-Alcoholic Beer

So I had this dream the other night where I was in a bar and all the beer was really really expensive. When I asked why, I was told because it was all non-alcoholic. Crazy those two themes converged. Must be some latent anxieties... Which begs the question, why are NA beers stocked at the LCBO? They...

Re: Breweries closing and/or restructuring and/or bought out

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgary/lethbridge-brewery-seeks-shareholders-1.7079261 A different approach from a brewery in Alberta. Didn't someone else try something like this a while back in Ontario? It sounds familiar, but I can't quite recall. Beaus did something similar. I recall it was to r...

Re: Recruiting back to the Bar Towel

FWIW, I migrated the forum to a new server in the last couple of days so hopefully it's faster for everyone. Google's PageSpeed insights gave the site a 99/100 on desktop performance! (I should have checked before, but let's just say it was lower! :P ) But I can only read so fast! This is getting t...

Re: Alcohol regulation changes

There's probably a catch. Something along the lines of you would have to live in the greenbelt or every individual serving would have to be retail priced at $1.

Re: How to dispose of a keg?

Hang on a second. The Beer Store handles keg returns for local breweries. They might overlook the origin and give you a deposit back. If it's industry standard, it should not matter to them.

If that's too much hassle, I'll still happily take it off your hands. :D

Hey! I'll take that too. I have the right hardware to re-purpose it. Sanky, I assume, not euro?

I have an excellent use for it and would appreciate. I assume is also has the chiller. I'll see if I can figure out how to PM and work something out.

Palestine

I’ve had beer from this brewery! I remember it very distinctly. It was in Jerusalem over 20 years ago. The publican explained how it was smuggled through all the checkpoints designed to block Palestinian businesses from selling in Israel. Economic starvation was the policy of the time. The beer was ...

Re: What's Your Favourite Ontario West Coast IPA?

Speaking of west coast IPAs that are no longer available in Ontario, my overall favourite was Green Flash, when we briefly had it imported here. I hope it makes a comeback. The hop flavour and complexity is intense for this one. I'd be curious to know what Green Flash is like nowadays, as it went t...

Re: Left Field Brewery

I finally made it to the Liberty Village location today. Glad to see another brewery destination in LV. I tried the DiMaggio, which is a pale ale with fuggles and centennial. It is a colab with Volo, and it was so good I ordered a second. Fuggles is one of my favourite hops, and it is well showcase...

Re: What's Your Favourite Ontario West Coast IPA?

I haven't seen this out in the wild near me, but my wife stumbled on it at a 'bo near her parents and grabbed a couple. She has a mostly helpful habit of grabbing new stuff to try without knowing what she is getting into. It works until she bumps her head on some lactose crap or other unfortunate b...
