Mill Street Vanilla Porter, has some toffee from the malts and a nice vanilla note, but it tastes like a blend of beer and water! I don't remember it tasting so diluted but could chug a can of this. I didn't like it at all. The French Press Vanilla Stout is much better. The vanilla taste is just ri...

Because the LCBO is the largest purchaser of alcohol in the world. Sounds like reason enough to me. Ontario is also a lot closer geographically for some U.S. breweries to ship to than some States which are on the other side of the Continent. I get that they are the biggest purchaser in the world. A...

Is Dupont Cervesia or Saison Dupont available anywhere? I've been trying to use the new search engine at the LCBO website but it said these beers are unavailable in Brampton, Guelph, or Orangeville. So I tried Toronto and again none available. That seems unlikely unless they've all sold out. No Cer...

I assume they are open normal hours on Monday June 30? My search on their website turns up info from 2013 so I assume that means tomorrow is a normal Monday.

They had a debate on this the other night on TVO's Studio 2. Listening to the likes of Howard Hampton reminded me of just how parochial and puritanical Ontarians can be. Did you know that if we allow the private sector to sell beer Ontario will end up like inner city Buffalo? When Ontarians travel o...

maybe they're switching to bottle format? (not sure why they would do this) can't see this being due to low sales.. Not sure where to put this but according to the LCBO website, Fuller's London Pride and Fuller's London Porter have been discontinued. Wow, after all these years. London Pride recentl...

Where are the Berliner Weisse? ...Cans of Berliner Weisse, LCBO. Someone! Nickel Brook, looking at you. Good luck with that as even in Berlin one is very unlikely to see it. I thought anything under 5% was considered "sessionable". Virtually all the newer beers at my local LCBO are at lea...

I lived in Mexico for 22 years. Most people I know down there never drink Corona unless it's the only thing available. My ex girlfriend's dad also worked at a now closed Grupo Modelo brewery and it was always amusing to talk to how about how much of the Corona production was for exports. In this ca...

Re: Netherlands

Bottle shop: De Bierkoning. it begins and ends here. best bottle shop i've seen. lots of Struise offerings, some 3 Floyds (??), lots of lambic, lots of everything. If you still need some bottles on your last day there is a shop at Schiphol Airport called Food Village. They have a decent selection o...

In the UK last month I had stilton for the first time in about a decade. I've never tried it with beer but I think the combination would work well. My favourite is Gouda Garlic and Herb cheese from the Netherlands but it is the one Gouda I never see anymore.

I think Mikkeller bars and Fermentoren are big draws for some people wanting to head to Copenhagen, but I could be mistaken. That might be it. I recall Garrett Oliver of Brooklyn Brewery claiming the micro scene was really taking off in Denmark but I don't know much about. (Brooklyn Lager and East ...

To all the people who mentioned Copenhagen I'm curious to know why. I spent last weekend there and my impression from (all two evenings!) is that to get their more interesting local brews you have to get bottles from organic food stores and perhaps bottle specialists. I'm sure there are pubs with a ...

went to In De Wildeman. Heard good things. bottle list is typical. tap list was good but not overly inspiring. had 1-2 american beer on tap. tap list leans more towards the bitter/IPA side, if that's your thing. Prices have gone up considerably. Some bottles that were 4 euro a few years ago are now...

I was back in London last month. Earlier in the thread lister mentioned The Cleveland Arms. I stopped by there on my way from Paddington station early on a Saturday night. It seemed like a neighbourhood pub with the patrons and staff all knowing each other. I had a pint of Harvey's Best Bitter for 3...
