Re: LCBO Online Exclusives

Not into spirits, but just got an email from the LCBO for the re-release of Sazerac on November 24th at 8:30.

The SAQ seems to have had issues with lotteries, but seems like it's been taken care of more recently.

Re: Shrinkflation

I don't know about the economics of things and how margins have/haven't changed in the last few years, but there is something that I think lands on the psychological end of things. At my favourite Front Street bar, they sell stuff in three sizes. The largest size is what Limeys would prefer, but the...

Site is showing lots of store inventory, now.

Just wish there was another store in Scarborough, not right on the border.

Re: Breweries closing and/or restructuring and/or bought out

I guess this makes some sense. It was strange that it followed a somewhat different pattern than other acquisitions.

Hoping luck for all parties mentioned.

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

3 Fonteinen Oude Geuze Platinum Blend

375 mL

Spendy, but cheaper than in adjacent jurisdictions.

Not available online at the moment, but may be in stores as the Kriek Boon was in stores weeks before it was listed on the site.

Re: Revel Cider

BlogTO is mostly clickbait garbage, but their highlighting (probably sponsored) of small towns that need the money seem to be a good thing. Taking a trip out to Guelph to a fancy ciderie seems like it fits with a chunk of their content. Some of the hate they get seems to come from the "I hate p...

Re: Revel Cider

I'll be putting in an order, too. Don't want another high-quality producer to exit.

Cannot say I've ever ordered directly from them, though.

Oh, shoot! BlogTO has an article up about Revel.

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

I could be mistaken, but those Fullers's Vintage Ales have really jumped in price. Not sure it's related to Sapporo or not.

Re: Portland, ME

Had a great trip in Portland/Boston. My preference for wild/sours mean I liked Portland more than Boston. Portland has some of the best beer-to-population ratio of anywhere. Allagash . The highlight for me. Did the quick 11:30 barrel room tour. Guide was great, and made for an informative and enjoya...

Re: Portland, ME

I'll be going to Portland and Boston soon and I hope to be able to post some of my experiences afterwards. Planning to attend the short Allagash wild barrel tour (logistical challenges), Novare Res, Oxbow, and RSVP. Unrelated: I tried posting something interesting I saw at an LCBO, but I could not g...

Re: LCBO.com

Kriek Boon is on the LCBO site. It can be found by searching "kriek", but not "Boon". Another nitpick I have is Lambiek Fabriek has two offerings on the site, but are listed in different formats. "Jart-Elle Oude Kriek" versus "Lambiek Fabriek - Brett-Elle". A ...

Re: Detroit

I'd like to go to Detroit one day as it's relatively close and seems to have a lot of great things. Tangentially, I was recently at Grimm in Brooklyn, and they definitely do not have a Montreal location. I'd like them to, though. Weird how some people cannot admit mistakes with zero costs for doing ...

Re: 2023 LCBO Summer Release

I'm going to get a brett-elle to try, but it's priced the same as the Armand and Gaston, which is almost certainly better. Lambiek's prices need a few years to cellar.

Re: 2023 LCBO Summer Release

Still no sign of Boon. Should I be worried? I saw the Boon Kriek in the Yonge/ Wellesley (?) store two weeks ago. LCBO app/website leaves much to be desired. Brett-Elle (unfruited geuze from Lambiek Fabriek) seems to be in stores, too. Thanks, it's good to hear that it's actually here, but very dis...
