Re: Ontario Craft Beer, Imports and Pumpkin Beers at the LCBO (Fall 2019)

Not seen a single beer from the import list in-store. Has the lcbo given up altogether or are they clearing the shelves before I turn up? I've seen Pohjala Must Kuld at a couple locations, but that's the only one. Frustrating since there are several from the list I'm eager to buy, Uerige Alt in par...

Re: Coming Soon to the LCBO

People will pay $4.50 for a can of pilsner from Bellwoods Which is strange considering you can go to any LCBO and get a Radeberger for $2.50. Or Jever for $1.95. Bitburger too, there aren't a lot of regularly available (through LCBO) local pilsners that I would consider to be as good, and when you ...

Re: Coming Soon to the LCBO

I agree, that was a nice beer. Beau's gets crapped on a lot for whatever reason, but I find they consistently put out solid and well made examples of a variety of styles. They're also not afraid to experiment in ways that aren't just "let's add 500 lbs of fruit puree to this beer". Or &qu...

Re: Coming Soon to the LCBO

Beau's has been pretty lame for a long time now. Overpriced, underwhelming. agreed. London Fog is so great they had to put it in 2 packs in a row lol so lazy I think Beau's had a surprising little hit with the unique and very likeable Kissmeyer Nordic Pale Ale. Not sure it really took off. I agree,...

In Toronto yesterday for a concert. Pre- concert at Craft Beer Market. Bellwood’s Boogie Monster Omnipollo Nebuchadnezzar Phillips Electric Unicorn White IPA Post-concert intended to return to Craft Beer Market but it was completely packed, so doubled back to Beer Bistro, where you could have dropp...

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

Isn’t this the truth! I think Lone Pine is the only thing I can find that’s WC and fresh. Octopus Wants to Fight was in that wheelhouse too, but it’s been replaced by Karma Citra recently. And as much as KC is tasting fantastic right now, it’s missing that WC bitterness I still yearn for. Isn't OWT...

Re: Ontario Craft Beer, Imports and Pumpkin Beers at the LCBO (Fall 2019)

I don't think so -- it has to be brewed on-site for them to sell it directly out of their facility. If a distributor could simply open up a retail storefront (which is what you are suggesting they are doing), then surely Keep 6, R&R and all of our other excellent distributors would be doing so ...

Re: Ontario Craft Beer, Imports and Pumpkin Beers at the LCBO (Fall 2019)

La Trappe Quad, i believe, is brewed at Brunswick in Ontario. and it's Netherlands, not Belgian. Yes, correct, saw it in the fridge on my last visit to Brunswick. Though it may still benefit the monks and their causes (in a small way), i guess that means the Ontario version is NOT a trappist beer ....

Re: Summer Seasonal Craft Beer Release 2019

I saw a few of those Great Divide Strawberry Rhubarb sours sitting on the shelves of my local 'BO. Pretty good! Still lots of strawberry and rhubarb flavour. there is more strawberry than rhubarb puree in it. nice beer but a little expensive for what it is. Mill St. Rhuby Cove wasn't a sour but use...

Perhaps it relates to the logistics of procuring the bourbon aged maple syrup bourbon barrels for production? Hopefully some of th...

Re: Munich, Bamberg, Brugge, and Brussels.

Across the street from the iconic Hofbrauhaus in Munich is the Ayinger am Platz Wirsthaus, service was a bit uneven but the fresh Ayinger beer makes it all worth it. Food was good too, expect to pay tourist prices though. Hofbrau is of course a must visit, if only for the history and atmosphere alon...

Re: Ontario Craft Beer, Imports and Pumpkin Beers at the LCBO (Fall 2019)

It's probably the best beer at Loblaws. That is an interesting question, actually -- what is the best beer commonly on the shelf at Loblaws? Other contenders: CA Life in the Clouds, Omnipollo Zodiak, BtP Aromatherapy. (I would have included Side Launch Mountain Lager, but it is extinct of course). ...
