Re: Coming Soon to the LCBO

Yeah, I like three of the four beers. Haven't tried the pils yet. IMO it's one of the better pilsners from Ontario, up there with Tooth and Nail Vim and Vigor and Bellwoods Paper Tiger. So at a minimum, worth trying. I should qualify my earlier comment by noting that some of Amsterdam's farmhouse b...

Re: Coming Soon to the LCBO

I'd still prefer Tempest on its own, but as far as the mix goes that's about best case scenario. Maybe I'll even buy two.

Re: What're you drinking right now?

Came across a Beatrix Baltic Porter from GLB sitting in my fridge. It's brewed with coffee and cocoa nibs and damn it was good, one of the better dark offerings I've had from them in a while. Lots of fudgey chocolate, some woody char, dark fruits and a liquorice/anise note. And of course there was a...

Unfortunately it doesn't look likely, I was digging through comments on their IG and they said it'll only be in the mix pack this time.

Re: Coming Soon to the LCBO

It's about time. Of course there's a catch though, being in a mix pack will make it prohibitive to stock up. Hopefully they offer some interesting options and not just their boring core brands. Take the tempest and return the other three...? Hah! That might be an option if they're already listed at...

Re: Collective Arts

All of the above true. Basically a tweaked recipe, same entry / beer identity on Ratebeer for example. If I had to guess I'd say CA Jam has only gotten better. I haven’t had it for a while, will have to re-visit. Is it just me...or has Life in clouds changed as well. It’s definately not as hazy as ...

Re: Duponnabes need not apply

I found some & thought the Saison Dupont might be an old batch because it looked so clear in the bottle. Ha. Probably from sleeping in the warehouse. I swirled the bottles and put them in the fridge. Just having a small pour, it's delicious in a particular way most imitators are not - an earthy...

Re: General LCBO Debate & Discussion Thread

I was one of those lucky bastards who bought a couple KBS four packs for the price of one. Ever since then I haven't been able to pay the price for just one. Same, and somehow I managed it again with the CBS. I felt a bit guilty, but I've spent massive amounts of money at the LCBO so that guilt qui...

Re: What're you drinking right now?

I was planning on emailing Muskoka regarding my disappointment in the formula change, so I figured I'd at least have a can fresh in my mind when I sent the message. Maybe not necessary, but one can is certainly a lot less money that they'll get compared to previous years when I bought over a dozen....

Re: LCBO Autumn, Halloween and Ontario Craft Beers 2018 Release

... Nearly all Pumpkin ales taste OK to me, but some are dull. You really only taste the spice whether or not they add the squashes at all. I think it ferments out. I dunno, personally I've had some pumpkin ales that give off that vegetal cooked squash note. Sometimes if it's balanced I don't mind,...

Re: What're you drinking right now?

With all due respect, why would you buy one if you know it's going to be shit? I too am not feeling the recipe change (couldn't even finish last year's can), so I won't be giving Muskoka my money if it's the exact same beer. Doesn't make sense to reward a brewery for taking a formerly great beer an...

Re: LCBO Online Exclusives

This price is bizarre. Sam Adams states the MSRP is US$200 (C$260) and LCBO sells it for C$110. Perhaps LCBO gets a better price by buying 588 bottles, but I suspect anyone selling it for the US$200 is making a very healthy margin if the LCBO can profit at less than half price. For all my gripes ab...

That's too bad, but thanks for confirming. I'll probably still buy one just because, but it sucks when a beer you've enjoyed goes through such a drastic formula change.
