Re: Bellwoods Brewery
I''m not a brewer but the price is understandable. These DOUBLE barrel releases have spent like 18-26 months sitting in barrels adding costs related to storage and transfer while compounding the risk of spoilage. All while losing liquid volume to evaporation. Yup it's expensive but justified IMO. T...

Re: Godspeed Brewery
I was recently surprised to see Godspeed in the LCBO, the Yuzu Saison. Excellent beer. I’m hoping a couple of the lagers make their way there as well. I did a summer order from Godspeed and the that Yuzu was a surprising highlight! All their stuff was quality, as expected, but that Yuzu took me by ...

A few recent stories related to alcohol laws here and abroad: Conservative MP pitches plan to allow alcohol sales across Canada by mail: https://www.cbc.ca/news/business/dan-albas-alcohol-sales-canada-post-1.5832748 This one is huge if it passes. I won't hold my breath, but I'm cautiously optimistic.

Re: Nickel Brook Brewing
I've had A through C now, A and B were decent but C was very underwhelming. Really all I'm left with from this exercise is, what's the point? None of these break any new ground for NB who already have a lineup of 3 year-round IPAs, and in the case of each one are hardly that different from Headstoc...

Re: Storm Stayed
The description for the box says "With eight unique styles curated by our brewers". I'm curious about the language "curated" here. Does this mean Storm Stayed didn't brew it themselves? Am I reading too much into this?

Re: 2020-2021 Winter Season at the LCBO
Yea I'm not sure why it's so limited here as there's clearly demand, but perhaps that's how they justify charging $23. I've seen it as low as $9.99 in the US so the rarity and price for us is definitely artificial. Perhaps they could still limit the bottles per person but offer more variants? Guess...

Re: General LCBO Debate & Discussion Thread
The LCBO is by far the worst place I've been in for people ignoring the directions on the aisles. No clue why. I went once at a busy time and it made me uncomfortable, so now I just go when I think it will be slow and it works fine. I've been in the LCBO twice since the pandemic started, both confu...

Re: 2020-2021 Winter Season at the LCBO
Devastating to have missed GI's Bourbon County Stout this year. Sold out already :( You're a week late. I think it sold out online in about 25 minutes. Less than that. I missed out on it and Muddy York's Inkwell this year. MY sold out of the Port cask in about 5 minutes and Sherry in 12. Both brewe...

Re: Wellington
They have retail sales a the Burlington location. How do they get around that rule whereby you could only sell the beer at the location where it was brewed? that isnt a real rule Really!? Not doubting you, but there must be something about this. When the two Ryan's (Nickelbrook, Sawdust) did their ...

Re: Abbaye de Godspeed
Had the Godspeed "Nana" recently, brewed with Japanese shichimi spices and was really impressed. Didn't know what to expect, and it turned out to be one of my favourite beers of this summer. It's pretty intense, all these woody spices. A second can awaits me. The chili peppers are certain...

Re: Barley Days Brewery
I had a fun experience with one of Barley Days beers recently. I did an online order from these guys last summer. All around solid beer. I order at least two of each; I'll try anything. One of these beers was called "Beach N' Wheat Reloaded". It was their wheat beer with cucumbers. I'm not...

Re: Godspeed Brewery
Fingers crossed that it tastes like Péché Mortel - Bourbon. Am I setting my expectations too high? I think so, this ain’t a cheater beer loaded with coffee. However it is delicious, quite smokey and complex with oak, vanilla, cola, fruity flavours all over. Godspeed made a lager version of Pe...
