I actually think it makes a lot of sense if you ignore Stone and Koch's history and bravado. I guess we will see how it works out.Cass wrote: ↑Fri Jun 24, 2022 9:27 am I can’t say I’m surprised at any acquisition anymore, this one included.

Re: Toronto Craft Beer Festival
Is this the same festival at the CNE a couple years ago you got a fancy wristband and paid for everything with that? If it's the same one that I remember seeing the sheer chaos of the Friday night on social media and decided to sell my Saturday night tickets rather than go!

Re: ISO: Ontario Brewery Ticks
I'll most likely be stopping in to Whiskeyjack as I'm staying in that town for an evening, but that isn't till late August and even then the beer would be in Elmira(Waterloo) that you'd have to pick up. Cheers! Ottawa is about as far North as I currently plan on getting this summer so I doubt I wil...

Flux is pretty underrated IMO, everything Ive has from them has been super solid and they seemingly get very little love on the internet. Although that doesnt seem to matter since every time ive been there the place has been packed I assume they don't get much distribution outside their local area?

Re: G&M (paywall): Canada’s crowded craft beer industry is tapped out. What brewers say must happen to stay afloat
Funny thing. a few years back I was in Calgary and one of the local breweries had a pop up stand in a downtown mall as part of a mini market of sorts. I think the brewery was Tool Shed, if I remember correctly. They had four beers on offer. I decided I would buy a can of two of them to try. I bough...

Re: G&M (paywall): Canada’s crowded craft beer industry is tapped out. What brewers say must happen to stay afloat
It took everything I could muster to be polite during my tasting at their bottle shop, I think I left with a couple pity cans afterwards. Oh the "pity cans" - It's always such an awkward moment of deciding if you actually want to buy anything after an underwhelming tasting at a brewery. I...

Re: ISO: Ontario Brewery Ticks
I have checked off a ton of breweries but it seems like I have added almost as many new ones to the list! Down to 35. I have plans to visit a lot of the outstanding ones. The far north ones are going to be a challenge.

Re: G&M (paywall): Canada’s crowded craft beer industry is tapped out. What brewers say must happen to stay afloat
the only thing ill add is that with the vast majority of breweries now shipping beer province wide the amount of beer a brewery in your second tier can sell is drastically affected it used to be that is you were the best or near best in your region youd have decent local traction, but with shipping...

Re: G&M (paywall): Canada’s crowded craft beer industry is tapped out. What brewers say must happen to stay afloat
Has anybody checked local business registrations recently? I'm wondering which we have more of. Pot dispensaries or breweries. New ones? Dispensaries for sure (or at least that's my impression). Jordan St. John posted somewhere about the lack of new breweries being registered on Twiter or maybe on ...

Re: G&M (paywall): Canada’s crowded craft beer industry is tapped out. What brewers say must happen to stay afloat
So far the majority of the breweries that have closed or merged or been bought up in whatever way, have not been ones that I think of as leaders in the craft space. It seems that places that are known for less adventurous stuff are the ones most at risk so far. Closures obviously suck for the peopl...

Ratebeer has a places section (though it's fairly out of date since not many people are entering place ratings there any more) - https://www.ratebeer.com/places/city/ottawa/59/39/

Re: What’s in the back of your fridge?
The oldest in the fridge is Bellwood Lamda I got courtesy of munrets. I've only had it a little over a year but its 5+ years old I think. It's one of those "If I drink it, it will be gone!" beers that I often reach for but haven't drank yet. :D In the cellar i have: Lindemans Cuvee Renee 2...
