Yes, and it’s not mind blowing. The cask mouthfeel is the main draw for me. I’m planning on grabbing more when I can.sofakingdrunk wrote:Is this back??? I remeber having it years ago, enjoyed it but didn’t think it was anything special. I was a big fan of their Ola Dubh series.

It was quite a joy riding around the city this weekend and seeing all the sandwich boards offering beer deals to go.

Harviestoun Bitter & Twisted — Lovely soft mouthfeel on this, very close to a cask experience. Solid British golden ale. Very sessionable, 330 ml is just not enough, so buy extra.

Re: Coming Soon to the LCBO
Cans are fine but I just hope they didn't mess with the size format. Cause I swear, Aventinus 500ml bottle has been a regular of mine for many years and I consider it to be one of the finest value/taste beers at the BO. I agree and I don't see that changing. This brewery (and Germany as a whole) ha...

Re: Godspeed Brewery
Fingers crossed that it tastes like Péché Mortel - Bourbon. Am I setting my expectations too high? I think so, this ain’t a cheater beer loaded with coffee. However it is delicious, quite smokey and complex with oak, vanilla, cola, fruity flavours all over. Godspeed made a lager version of Pe...

Godspeed just released its first barrel aged beer. I've got high hopes and a shipment on its way.

Jolly Pumpkin Oro de Calabaza — Three years resting in the bottle and it's lovely: bright, dry, funky, with some lemon character and gives me vivid Orval flashbacks. The 8% abv is invisible until you get to the end of the bottle. Glad I swiped a few of these when LCBO was discounting them.

Aventinus Vintage (4 Years Aged) just popped up. I wonder if this is barrel aged just some musty bottles.

Good point, I guess I was thinking specifically of Thrust! which I recall very fondly. I do also like the recent hazy iteration.Craig wrote:GLB are still making most of their West coast IPA.

Re: Modern trends
Oh, on the sweetness note. I think it's a good point that this does make for relatively accessible beer, that might appeal to many who are used to mixers, wine, coolers, ciders, etc. This can't be understated, and consequently the stuff flies off shelves. Anecdotally, I remember trying to introduce...

Goose Island Brewhouse Dysphoria - BBA Baltic porter. Definitely barrel forward, lots of bourbon, sweet vanilla oak and caramel. Well carbonated and feels thin for 12.9% beer. Very enjoyable.

Re: Ontario Beer Delivery Index
I've had orders delivered from Canpar and private brewery drivers and the speed and service is great. Goose Island Toronto has a pretty good deal on, free same day Toronto delivery with only a $20 minimum (noon cutoff, I think). They have cheap cans, rotating 750 ml swingtop fills for $7, plus a bar...
