Though maybe not in the same league as Scotch Irish, but something I like to pick up once in a while, is the Magnotta IPA (I also like their Altbier). And it also has a good pricetag!

Over the weekend, friends introduced me to Ten Feet Tall, an interesting Toronto bar/restaurant with a very nice tap selection. I think the same thing applies to Ontario wineries. They often have the same wine (and typically many others not available at the LCBO) at the same price, but recoup more per bottle.

Now, if only breweries could be as "visitor friendly" as some Niagara wineries....

If you're in the Bloor West area of Toronto, you can try the Erdinger heffweizen at the Dark Horse. Alternately, the Wood House just down the street on Bloor has Hacker (lager and weisse) on tap as well as fine snitzels!

FYI - the Beer Store now accepts credit cards....

What beer(s) would you suggest to friends that are just starting to expand their beer horizon (i.e. the type that consider Rickard's Red or Keith's exotic)? When hosting parties, I always try to keep something like Wellington Arkell Best Bitter or King Pilsner on hand, but many keep asking for the K...

I would also include the following as pretty good beer:
1) Hockley Valley Dark
2) King Premium Pilsner
3) Magnotta IPA (good value for the dollar).

2) Arkell Best Bitter
3) County (dark) Ale - had it on tap and was pleasantly surprised
