Great event and worth the wait in line. Bring Out Your Dead was a standout for me and it was great to have the chance to compare it with a solid lineup of other imperial stouts.

How much age did it have on it? I'm down to my last bottle (best before date is May 2017) and I'm wondering how long I should sit on it.

Anyone had experience with this one before? I didn't know that there is a Petrus winter/Belgian dark strong. I enjoy their Oud Bruin and Pale, but the Petrus Blond and Tripel are pretty ordinary.

Re: Hamilton people, help??

Agreed - the best beer bars are located closer to downtown. Brux House on Locke would be a hearty walk from Mac (30+ minutes). I'd consider that do-able, but I know I'm in the minority with that opinion. For something close, you could do a lot worse than The Phoenix which is right on campus in the R...

Re: Amsterdam and Bruges

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but this is the only one with Amsterdam. I know Het Arendsnest (which I love) for draft and De Bierkoning for a bottle shop. Any other particular recommendations for Amsterdam? De Molen looks a bit tough to get to. I'll second Philip1's recommendation above for In ...

Re: Random Reviews

Just started drinking the Tank 7 farmhouse ale. It's good, but a little odd. Nice and peppery saison character. I found it a bit sweet and alcohol forward though. At 8.5%, I find that a bit high for a farmhouse ale. Finally getting around to trying this one. I would agree that this beer has a heavi...

Looking forward to seeing this back! I stocked up when Celebrator was de-listed - nice to know I don't have to be overly concerned with saving the last couple of remaining bottles.

Re: Chester's Beers Of The World - Hamilton, ON

Made it out to Chester's this weekend for one final trip before they change ownership. They are indeed offering a 2 for 1 deal on bottles (with the caveat that you must purchase two of the same bottle to get the discount - it works well if you go with a group and can each grab a couple of bottles to...

Re: What're you drinking right now?

Right now: Montegioco Demon Hunter (one of the bottles that survived the flight home from Italy). A complex strong amber ale. Some peppery spice notes upfront before the caramel malt flavours emerge - sweet (without being cloying), though not particularly fruity. Pleasant dry finish with a touch of ...

Re: What're you drinking right now?

I was in Italy a month ago. "Craft" seems to be perceived as saison's and farmhouse ales. All unfiltered and since I'm not a saison fan, all uninspiring to me. Looked for pale ale, saw one reference to an IPA near Canelli but couldn't get my hands on it. I would agree that saison/farmhous...

Re: Chester's Beers Of The World - Hamilton, ON

I, for one, am a little sad to hear that Chester's is changing ownership. It was certainly an oddball when compared to most beer specialty bars in Southern Ontario, but it is precisely for this reason that Chester's is unique. Yes, the décor is horribly outdated but for me, that's just part of the c...

Re: What're you drinking right now?

When were you last in Italy, Belgian? The craft beer (or "birra artigianale") movement in Italy has picked up a lot of momentum recently! I'm hoping to create/update the "Local Beer Guides" for the benefit of those planning a trip.
