Hopfenstark was also the only Canadian brewer represented at Amsterdam's Beer Temple (American microbrew specialist bar) back in December.Craig wrote:
They also had bottles of DDC and a few Hopfenstark's, so I guess that's the impression Parisiens have of Canadian craft.

Re: Beer for non-craft drinker guests?
Cameron's Cream Ale is refreshing without being challenging to "normies". As others have said Muskoka beers. Their Craft Lager isn't particularly good but it's drinkable from what I remember - ie no corn aftertaste or general nastiness like Heineken - ditto Amsterdam's seasonal Starke Pils...

Christmas can be fun for adults too.
Last night it was Saison Julie from Aschaffenburg, Germany and Delirium Tremens Nocturnum.
Tonight it'll be Samuel Adams Imperial Stout.

Bottle shop: De Bierkoning. it begins and ends here. best bottle shop i've seen. lots of Struise offerings, some 3 Floyds (??), lots of lambic, lots of everything. If you still need some bottles on your last day there is a shop at Schiphol Airport called Food Village. They have a decent selection o...

Re: The Craft Brasserie & Grille
It feels like a sports bar that actually has lots of great beer, which was a rarity (maybe even non-existent) when I used to go to bars on a regular basis. I enjoyed the Sunlight Park Saison and the Dieu du Ciel vanilla stout. The young woman who served me at the bar sounded knowledgeable enough abo...

Found this commentary entertaining. http://www.slate.com/blogs/moneybox/2015/09/08/lagunitas_founder_sells_half_his_beloved_craft_brewery_to_heineken_explains.html Slate article ends with: Anyway, you'll probably be able to get a decent IPA in Amsterdam soon. That's really the news here. That proba...

Re: Prague and Plzen
The brewery tour in Plzen isn't bad. You get to taste some of it in unfiltered in the lagering cellar. When I was there they were canning Kozel. (I don't think they brew Kozel there but I could be wrong). Unlike the Budvar/Czechvar brewery, where I think you need to book in advance or show up at a s...

Well, at Queen and Coxwell LCBO there's a big display of Mikkeller beers sitting like a boat anchor. Nobody.… is... buying it. That should've been on discount weeks ago IMO. it's not getting any younger. Same story in the two Guelph stores that have it. Lots of stock of everything, besides the black...

Exactly the same. I was at the Royal Oak here in Ottawa which is the usual Kilkenney, Boddintons, Guinness, etc. Then I see Honkers and Fullers on tap. I rotated back and forth. They also had Honkers (I think, I guess it could've been IPA) at Connor's on Bank Street when I was there a couple of wee...

Yes, the Guinness thing is based on a misconception, I presume, that originated from the horrible bottled version of Guinness that was ( is? ) brewed under licence by Labatt. Still is. I was looking at it a few months back at my local TBS. All the usual cities you see listed on a Labatt Blue are on...
