I've only been to TO twice this past year but both times went to Bar Hop. Too many new beers for me to try in too short a time so other than the obligatory pint of cask ale to start off with I ended up going mostly with samplers. I suppose if any criticism at all could be levelled at the place it is...

It is still so bewildering to see how infantile Japanese pop culture is. Its no more infantile than America's (ie the West's) pop culture and unlike the USA they don't force it on the rest of humanity. More importantly I think the Japanese know to separate pop culture (an oxymoron btw) from real cu...

I'm going to guess he's in a Christian area of Lebanon. Although there are a number of beers brewed in Muslim countries. I know an Algerian brewery produces Stella Artois under licence and the last (and only time) I bought the Tuborg Gold at the LCBO it said brewed in Turkey on the can.

Was it really dead after Hoegaarden & Celis White ? OT maybe this is fairly old news to some here though new to me, but Celis White is no longer brewed in the US as the Michigan Brewing Company has gone out of business. It is still made by Van Steenberge (Gulden Draak, Piraat ale, etc) of Belgi...

Many among us are raised with a 2-liter bottle of Coke on the dinner table, so we grow up into adults who still crave sweet gooey tastes - like an extremely round, ripe tasting Australian Shiraz, for example. Those consumers aren't going to enjoy the more dry, tannic wines from the classical Europe...

Personally I love that within two years we have gone from desperately pleading for some hoppy beers to people complaining that there are too many. I respectfully disagree. Fair enough but there are so many now that it reminds me of a few years ago when the LCBO aisles were packed with a dozen Easte...

BIA IPA. Wow...an imported Italian beer NOT made by Peroni! I can imagine some uber-American IPA fans saying "not enough flavour, dude" but for me this is balanced just right.

I bought one of each Dupont beers the other week. They were all fine, indeed better than fine, except the Saison Dupont. And this is not a case of "this isn't as good as I remember it the last time LCBO had it years ago" as I bought a bottle last year in Belgium so I recall the taste. Very...

I have yet to have a Cobblestone that lives up to the very first time I had it on draught (at the first TBW opening cask tapping), or just a decent Irish pint of Guinness. Cobblestone has become my "go to" stout of late. St Ambroise Oatmeal and Hockley are good but they are too carbonated...

I was thinking of buying a half case of the Saison but the Cervesia is just so good I think I'm gonna pick up a half case of it instead. Highly recommended! How many are in a case? Based on previous experience my LCBO will only order me a full case from other locations but since these Brasserie Dup...

I'm drinking the Cascade Hop right now. No corn syrup detected. :D It's like a slightly less tasty version of St Ambroise Pale Ale, but stronger in alcohol. Had it come out 7 or 8 years ago I might've made it a regular but not today with the better selection available. Might work to introduce newbie...

Prima Pils about three years ago. Even then I think it was only because a 2-4 was the minimum for shipping to my local LCBO. Other than that I'm not sure I've ever bought a 2-4. As for 12 packs I've bought both Sleeman IPA and a Mcauslan mixed pack within the last couple of years. I prefer regular v...

Samuel Adams Spring Lager is listed at the LCBO site in four cities only and in small amounts. Is it on its way or would those be leftovers from last year?

With Chimay being the only city in the Francophone south that you are visiting there may be a temptation to stop along the way in Charleroi, the largest city in the Walloon region. Resist that temptation! I was there last year. Charleroi is not only a crime-ridden dump it is also a beer desert where...
