Re: Breweries closing and/or restructuring and/or bought out
I found this, posted 2 days ago: https://www.kijiji.ca/v-commercial-office-space/guelph/turn-key-brewery-for-lease-in-guelph/1674405674 This is the space Fixed Gear took over from StoneHammer (the original brewer of MacLean's, funny enough). So I don't know if Fixed Gear has left or what's going on,...

Breweries closing and/or restructuring and/or bought out
Instead of starting a new thread for each brewery we hear in the news closing or otherwise that don't already have a thread dedicated to them, I thought I'd just start up a general one. MacLean’s Ales Closes Brewery & Moves Production to The Collingwood Brewery https://www.canadianbeernews.com/2...

Re: Non-Alcoholic Beer
I have logged just over 100 different NA beers in the last 6 months. Your reviews of Athletic's core line and Guinness 0 are spot on. However I disagree with Stay Classy, I've definitely had better NA IPA's. My recommendations: Free Beer by Rogue River is by far and away the best NA IPA, and maybe N...

No I didn't as I was camping. I would have if I was around though, as I agree it looks pretty good.

Re: Cask Days 2023
While I enjoyed last years (same set up as this year it looks like) due to the chill atmosphere compared to pre-Covid Cask Days, I honestly can't see myself making the trek to Toronto for this ever again. If I lived relatively close however, I'd say it's worth stopping in for.

Re: Aging canned Unibroue vs bottled
Can vs bottle aside, it’s kind of a shame that the new mix pack is down to just 4 beers. I would get the mix bottle pack from time to time, and IIRC the last one had Terrible & Raftman. Kind of weird that they dropped Blanche de Chambly too, so now the mix pack is all high octane. https://www.t...

Re: Shrinkflation
Anyway, saw a 'new' listing for Carlesberg in the LCBO which seemed strange. Sure enough, they are moving from a 500 mL can to a 473 mL can. $3.00 for the 500, $2.95 for the 473. Aside from the marginal increase in cents/mL, I suppose they like the $2.95 vs $3.00 for psychological reasons. I wonder...

Re: Best Ontario pilsners
While I prefer Jever I also found myself drinking Pilsner Urquell more this summer... probably because it's in my local lcbo instead of having to order Jever online. I'm a firm believer that Godspeed makes the best pilsners/lagers in Ontario right now. I also agree Tooth & Nail "Vim & V...

Re: Kingston Brewing Company
I was there once about 12 years ago or so and had the Dragon's Breath Pale Ale. Tasted like a malt extract beer tbh.

Re: Innocente Brewing
What he disagreed with was forced lockdowns and mask-mandates, and welcomed anyone who agreed with him to his brewery; everyone what was in his space was there by choice. I'm not too sure how that makes him a garbage human being, even if you disagree with him on lockdowns and masks. I don't really ...

Re: Innocente Brewing
I've changed my mind on Innocente, they are now one of my favorites. I was wrong. Steve Innocente was a garbage human being during covid. attended and spoke at many rallies. 35 enforcement actions against him. https://kitchener.ctvnews.ca/35-enforcement-actions-issued-for-disobeying-covid-19-rules-...

Re: Collective Arts
Not knowing any insider info or financials, I just get the feeling that this is a brewery that's overextended itself and we'll see either a contraction or sale in the near future.
