When I first started getting into wines, and I should add that I am nowhere near fully-versed with wines yet, I found it really overwhelming. How the heck are you supposed to know what to drink when wines can change from region to region and maker to maker each year? What I eventually decided to do ...

I don't like pumpkin beers, so I'm sort of on the same boat.

But then if they did a release with 9 RIS in it I'd be overjoyed, so I guess I'll temper my criticism.

Macro beer prices shouldn't be compared like that, they're artificially high. A better comparison is buck a beer prices, if you want to say that craft beer has higher costs. Macros have the costs of buck a beer, but can charge a lot more, probably because of their extensive marketing.

Getting into wine is at least as damaging to your wallet as getting into beer. Sure, it's possible to keep to cheaper bottles and pick out good value, but if you really get into it you're still going to want to try the premium stuff more and more often. It's like how most beer geeks eventually want ...

If it's only 8 bucks a half-pint for the special stuff, it's not so bad. 8 bucks for a half-pint of wizard wolf is too much. From Bellwoods blog: In addition to the 26 beers on draft, we’ll also be tapping 6 casks, and popping a selection of reserve bottles. I wonder what they have in the way of res...

I have to say, I find this release a little disappointing. They're all fine beers, but I was hoping for some stuff I hadn't seen before. If I were in a good pub in Montreal, I probably wouldn't order any of these for that reason. But I'm being picky. They're good beers, I'll be encouraging friends w...

Man, 25 bucks to get in gets you a quarter pint, then every quarter pint after that is 4 more dollars? Another way of putting that is $21 admission followed by $16 pints. I guess they have to price what the market will bear, but I think they've priced me out of this one.

In the last few days:

Heady Topper
Hill Farmstead Susan
Hill Farmstead Society and Solitude #7
Hill Farmstead Edward
Bellwoods Motley Cru
Black Oak Malevolant

The Society and Solitude was the best of the lot. A very good lot.

I'm pretty sure I've seen Lake of Bays at a few US beer festivals. They were for sure at the Philly craft beer fest. I assumed at the time that meant they probably had a US distribution deal with someone or another, but I don't really know anything about it.

Oh come on, The Beer Station has been there for ages and they have over 100 of the worst beers in the world!

Re: Even better - a 20-dollar BOMBER for that 'largerer' ta

Rochefort 8 nice and cold, with earthy-mineral herbals, caramel sweetness and some dryness and alcohol. It's a great beer. I always have to calibrate between the 8 and 10 because it's essentially the same beer, literally 'more or less' - ie. in the overall grain bill. I don't know any other Belgian...
