Re: Are you travelling for beer again?

Last road trip that involved some serious brewery pickups for me was Prince Edward County. Some great spots there, and a nice part of the world! Also not bad for wine and cider, of course. In the foreseeable future, I see no downside to discovering more of our great province...I've probably tried ma...

Re: What to do with the Bar Towel Forums?

Short of full on moving the forum to a different platform - Is there a way to auto-post new threads to Facebook/Twitter to drive traffic here? I do wonder though if that would do much. People have enough other outlets via social media to talk about beer on platforms they are already using. Not a ba...

Re: What're you drinking right now?

I bought a case of Big Drop after seeing an ad on Untappd...I was a little disappointed, to be honest. (Also, the LCBO started selling them like a day after they arrived.) But I might have a new fave: Mikkeller makes some great N/A beers, including the tropical Henry & His Science and shrub-like...

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

It's been a couple weeks since the announcement, but I grabbed some Rouge River Holy Trinity IPA at a nearby LCBO. From my humble perspective, it's one of the best regional NEIPAs you can get. This, combined with Bellwoods Double Jutsu's availability at the lickbo, is damn good news for IPA lovers i...

Re: Willibald

I put in an order with this place recently and was very impressed. The export lager was terrific, and the IPAs were all good. Plus they let you order from some other places around. Just put in another order and grabbed some Slake stuff to try too. Definitely! I got some good stuff from my order rec...

Re: What're you lightly drinking?

Had a few low-ABV brews... the Godspeed Draught-lager style "Baby Svetly" (1.5%) is pretty acceptable for a crushable quaff, and the Omnipollo KONX (0.3%) tastes almost like a good light sour pale but something in the taste goes very wrong, like it's spoiled or infected. I'm not expecting...

Re: Budvar Tmave / Godspeed

Godspeed Tmave Lezak is basically a version of this type of beer, even a tribute... a very good one. Store has it if people want to compare the two. I'll have to revisit Budvar Dark for fun. I agree, the Godspeed Tmavý Ležák 12º is an excellent tribute to the style, and overall it's one of my favou...

This is great news. And it seems like a really well thought-out space. The area could use something like this!

Re: Ontario will allow restaurants to sell takeout liquor, wine and beer

Beer Diary, Today I dropped by Good Cheese at Gerrard and Broadview, and grabbed a pretty great haul. Currently, they're carrying beers from some relatively hard-to-find Ontario micros. They had offerings from Matron, Burdock, Tooth and Nail, Sonnen Hill, Dominion City (including Sunsplit IPA), Bell...

Re: Avling Brewery

They have some really nice, simple, fresh-tasting beers and they're usually consistent. They only do short cans, perfect for the backyard or beach. I recommend stopping by and checking out their food retail as well...fresh veggies, great cuts of meat, prepared foods, pickles, etc. Also, their bacon ...

Re: Ontario will allow restaurants to sell takeout liquor, wine and beer

Stopped at Dark Horse Espresso at Queen East and Broadview over the weekend for a coffee, and found out they've had a Collective Arts pop-up for some time: https://collectiveartsbrewing.com/events/toronto-pop-up-shop-at-dark-horse/ Wide selection of their beer, cider and gin, and at the same price y...
