Re: For Fun: ChatGPT Throwdown!

Microsoft Edge has it integrated into the browser. I guess it is using the same database/engine, but was unsure before.

Re: For Fun: ChatGPT Throwdown!

Hmmm... got a different answer, when using the same website, when I asked the same question again. It was similar though.

Re: For Fun: ChatGPT Throwdown!

I used https://chat.openai.com/chat

I don't have a Windows computer, so I can't try it on Edge. Maybe that is the difference.

Re: For Fun: ChatGPT Throwdown!

"What is the Bar Towel?" The Bar Towel is a website that was founded in 2001 and is dedicated to promoting and celebrating the Ontario craft beer scene. The website features news and reviews of Ontario craft beer, as well as a comprehensive directory of breweries, bars, and restaurants tha...

Re: Something in the Water

See, I'd love to try that oatmeal stout or ESB, but instead they send things like their lime lager or (yet another) hazy IPA to the LCBO- thus I've yet to try anything from them. Good to hear the beer is good though, I usually grab food and a beer in LV before I go to shows at the Amphitheatre, but...

Re: Old Flame Brewing's new location in Toronto Distillery District

I popped in to the Distillery District location recently. I can report that their wet hop beer was tasty and fresh, despite it being a bit past the harvest season. I will have to check out their other brews, when I have time. I don't think they have a kitchen, but it's a good place to drop by, if yo...

Re: Something in the Water

I got their Outro ESB to go. I got the last two, and I think it is seasonal, so I am not sure if there is more. However, it too was very good. It had plenty of malty complexity and plenty of hop flavour. It was better than some others I have had in the province.

Something in the Water

I went to this brewery (the one in Liberty Village Toronto), last night. Their oatmeal stout was fantastic. It was an English variety, so I enjoyed the hops and the character-full taste and aroma due to the English ale yeast strain. I also had one of their NE IPAs, which was well made. Their gingerb...

Re: Would beers from the past be highly regarded today?

[So, to circle back, would there be an award winning stock ale?        deep breath    But maybe the hipster trends of drinking 50 or Black Label might reawaken the conversation. Personally, I would nominate Northern Ale as a good candidate. Wo...

Re: Would beers from the past be highly regarded today?

I remember going to a home brew conference with Stephen Beaumont and Michael Jackson were guest speakers there. (I got to meet both of them later on.) As I recall, Stephen mentioned at the time (in the 90s), Canada had a twice bigger per capita craft beer market than the states. This has of course c...

Re: Would beers from the past be highly regarded today?

I agree with much that has been said here. Regarding Canadian beer, we had some good ones in days gone by (Dragon's Breath Pale Ale, Gritstone, Conners Best Bitter, ....). However, I remember that the now dead famous beer author Michael Jackson (not the singer) never gave Canada a five star beer. At...

Kensington Brewery

I stopped in at this brewery over the weekend. I got to try their barley wine, ESB and dark IPA. All were good, and made well to style, but nothing amazing. Worth the visit, and I am glad I went there.

Cheers.

Re: What're you drinking right now?

Joe Blo Bohemian Pilsner for the Joseph Bloor Brewery. Excellent. Lots of flavour bursting out of this one, including a lager-like bready maltiness and an assertive Saaz presence. It is well balanced and on style.

Re: Orval the hills and far away...

Yes. I did notice the Orval was not as strong as I remembered it. Still a great beer, but being inconsistent isn't necessarily a bad thing. Not as strong in what way? Taste, alcohol, funk? For me, it didn't have as much of the barnyard funk as I remembered. It was still a good beer, though I would ...
