Re: Is there a Great Beer Grocery Store?

In Guelph, the Zehrs(loblaws) closest to me has a solid selection and usually quite fresh. Lots of imports but just as many Ontario/Canadian craft. Bellwoods(4 brands)/Fat tug/lots of Great Lakes/lots of collective arts I would say the same about the Zehrs at Conestoga Mall in Waterloo, so I wonder...

Re: Winter Release ???

Great, I remember really enjoying this one the last time it was available around here. It is already listed on the LCBO website, but no stock yet. Pretty decent value for how good the beer is. I found it too roasty on the coffee. I honestly couldn't decide if it was always that way and my tastes ha...

Re: Talk or Action?

From the Toronto Star article: "The shopping experience is just dreadful," said Beaumont. "They tried to elevate it with their express stores, but I think almost all of those are gone. Their model really hasn't changed in 40 years." Forty years ago, you had to look at a display ...

Re: What's Your Favourite Ontario West Coast IPA?

I too tried the Lower West Side WCIPA and echo the comments above: a slightly lighter version of Boneshaker, in all the right ways. I really enjoyed it. Thank you!!

Question though: my can says 6% yet the lcbo image says 5%... why is that?

Re: What's Your Favourite Ontario West Coast IPA?

Lone Pine and Boneshaker for sure. Great Lakes Octopus is a bit hazy but has some bitterness that fits the bill for me. As does Lake Effect and the Karma series. Haven't had a Mad Tom in a long time due to just liking the above more. Same goes for Headstock, plus the inconsistencies I've had from it...

Re: Non-Alcoholic Beer

Rouge River has another NA IPA out and it's fantastic. First one (Free Beer) might have been slightly better, but that's probably just personal hop preference.

I wouldn't be so sure. The building they are in, which houses other businesses including their own, is what makes the money. The brewery is just a side project, a play-thing.

Sure the novelty could wear off, but I wouldn't write it off just yet.

Re: Schooner Street Brewery

I know a little bit more on this... These guys (3 brothers and a brother-in-law) started brewing in a garage. 1-3 of the brothers own the building the brewery is now in and hired the brother-in-law to manage the property, brew the beer, and get the brewery open. At the same time they were trying to ...

Noticed that LCBO Beer Watch has announced DdC!'s Péché Mortel is returning (#30661, $5.05/473ml). Great, I remember really enjoying this one the last time it was available around here. It is already listed on the LCBO website, but no stock yet. Pretty decent value for how good the beer is. I found...

Re: Goose Island Black Friday & Bourbon County Stout

I’d say far and above the quality of the Welly pack this year. It hasn’t been great the last two years IMO. The M31 is definitely not as good as the UVB from a few years back. That said, I only get the bourbon can, not the pack with all the adjunct versions, and think the bourbon only is still pret...

Was hoping they'd ship to Georgetown as I have family there, but no. Disappointed, I would have liked to order this among other things.

Re: Shrinkflation

When in Ireland this past summer the people that we were with almost went out of their way to complain about the quality of the pour of their beer, especially Guinness Yeah, the Irish are almost comically obsessed, I have found, with "pouring a nice pint". As if it makes a difference to t...

Upside isn't the only retailer in the game, although probably the best in terms of selection. There are others, but I've personally also used: - https://www.designateddrinks.ca/ (who happen to have cans in a few variety stores around London) - https://www.neoni.ca/(physical location at the St Jacobs...

Re: Shrinkflation

I can't bring myself to be a dick about it at the bar. I'll just talk about them behind their back on forums :) In all seriousness though, I have been noticing it more and more there which is unfortunate. I've found an older school British pub not far away that still does 18/20oz glasses and the be...
