Re: Winter Release ???

Also I got two of the St. Ambroise imperial barrel aged porter, opened the first one a couple weeks ago. It had a super high carbonation, to the point that it was quite unpleasant to drink. Hopefully it was just off bottle and the second one will be better. Oh, that's not good to hear. It is on my ...

Re: Henderson Brewing @ YYZ

I don't travel by plane very often, but nonetheless have had the same thoughts as many of you; when I land, I just want to get on my way home. I have been to the airport a couple of times this year to pick people up; it would be nice to go there a little early and have a beer while I wait, but then ...

Re: Goldenfield Brewery

Looks like it is located quite close to the soon to be closed Muddy York location. Good for local beer enthusiasts.

Re: Breweries closing and/or restructuring and/or bought out

This is another one where it surprises me a bit to see which brewery is doing the purchasing vs being purchased - I would have thought Spearhead was the bigger player. Will be interesting to see how this all works out. Ha! The exact same thought came to my mind. Yup, thought the same thing. Spearhe...

Re: Shrinkflation

I suspect breweries are experimenting with ways of reducing raw material inputs to combat increased costs Amazing timing for you to make this comment. I just saw an article yesterday about this and there's even a word for it. Skimpflation. https://www.cbc.ca/news/business/skimpflation-shrinkflation...

Re: Shrinkflation

Carlesberg bought out Waterloo brewing and it's now being brewed there. Everything else out of that brewery is in a 473ml so it only makes sense to have Carlesberg move to that size as well. Matthew is right, of course. I hadn't thought of that when I had my little rant, so it's not really shrinkfl...

Muddy York' opened and second location....and will now be closing the original location. According to this story, the two events are not connected.

Re: Collective Arts hit with $500K tax bill!

This is sad.....and awkward. Regardless of how you feel about the tax law and whether it is fair and makes sense, it is what it is. So I'm not thinking CA has much leverage to get out of what is owed. And they really should have known better. Very curious about how this came about. The best I think ...

Shrinkflation

I'm sure you've all seen where companies reduce the size of an item instead of increasing the price. I hate the practice. Anyway, saw a 'new' listing for Carlesberg in the LCBO which seemed strange. Sure enough, they are moving from a 500 mL can to a 473 mL can. $3.00 for the 500, $2.95 for the 473....

Re: Best Ontario pilsners

There was a discussion about this a few years ago. Best Pilsner at the lcbo? Lots of support for Urquell at that time too, and a lengthy post by groulxsome I thought King Pilsner had morphed into Thornbury Pickup Truck No. 26 Pilsner. Did a little searching, and both appear to be available on-line d...

I remember Dragon's Breath....but it was more like 30 years ago. :(
Can't say I remember the beer much, but it's still one of my all-time favourite beer names.
