Re: What're you drinking right now?

At Bierrera Volo:
Barncat 36" Chain IIPA - yum!
Crooked Stave Petite Sour Rose - excellent
Almanac Sunshine & Opportunity - could be more complex
Crooked Stave Silly Cybies - sour! This is a sipper, but a very good one. Now my taste buds are done for the day.

Re: What're you drinking right now?

Northern Maverick Destroyer IIPA - notes of orange peel, white pepper, and a dash of pine. Perhaps it is a little too sweet for the style (almost like a barley wine). Still a very good example of the style.

Re: Montreal

Yes the draught selection is good and so is the bar scene here in Montreal. As for hotel, I am staying at hotel chrome. It is downtown, but it is one of the cheaper ones. Although long weekend prices are much higher than usual. You can also find places in hotels.com.

Re: Montreal

I am in Montreal right now. Thanks everyone for the tips. With only two days here and a sore foot, I wasn't able to try everything suggested. I was a ble to make it to DDC. There I sampled some nice brews, including my first Kveik beer. It was refreshing and subtle, but I am glad to have tried it. N...

Re: What're you drinking right now?

At Death and Taxes: Collingwood White Bay IPA (cask) - good execution Collective Arts Tropical Milkshake IPA - very good, but perhaps not as good as the milkshake IPAs from Bellwoods. At Big Rock: A DIPA that tasted like a creamsicle. The hop flavour was very unique, and I enjoyed it quite a bit. Pe...

Re: Montreal

This weekend I am heading to Montreal. I will be staying downtown without access to a car. I plan on visiting Dieu du Ciel. Any other recommendations for breweries or bars in the downtown would be appreciated. I like sours, trappings styles, IPAs as and IIPAs. Also, if you have recommendations for i...

Re: Maverick Brewing

I have returned to Northern Maverick, and I wanted to report on the beers I tried there. The Carraway Rye Saison (can't remember the actual name off the top of my head) was okay, but a bit unbalanced. It's sweet and sour, but probably too sweet for a saison, and little too astringent. Next, I tried ...

Re: What're you drinking right now?

At Craft in Liberty Village:
Danforth Brewery Snowbird - This is a very good coconut porter. I found the coconut subtle yet present, and the malt and yeast complexity is quite good.

Re: Collective Arts - Stranger Than Fiction Porter review

I found it ok but a bit boring myself. Too bad, because Collective Arts has some good beers. This beer could do with some more hops or a more complex yeast strain. I really liked it, but then Clifford Porter came along and now it's my go-to porter. At the time there were pretty much no regularly av...

Re: What're you drinking right now?

MacLean's IPA - a good English hopped IPA. If you like this style, make sure to try it, if you haven't already.

Re: What're you drinking right now?

I too am drinking a Cascade Apricot Ale. When I bought this beer, I was a little reluctant to part with over $20 for 750ml of beer. Well, let me tell you it was worth it. This beer is right up there with brews from my favourite brewery, Cantillon. The apricot has all the funky complexity of a good ...

Re: What're you drinking right now?

While I am on the subject of quads. A few months ago, I bought one of my favourites: St. Bernardus Abt. Usually, it is one of the best examples of the style. However, this bottle was off. The flavours were muted, and it could have been slightly infected. I am wondering about the quality control now....
