I finally found the McAuslan's St. Ambroise Vintage Ale, and it's a 2000 vintage. I hope it's a beer we can expect every year about this time. I haven't tried it yet, so no thoughts.

I beginning to get quite a collection. 4 different vintages of Thomas Hardy's Ale, 2 vintages of St. Ambroise, and a Canadian. (The Canadian has been in the cellar since I last moved, about 2 years now. I wonder how it has aged?)

I tried the vintage 2000 today, and I think it's great. thr candied fruit/hard candy aroma is a little more subtle this year and the boost of alcohol helps round out the malt(as well as being pleasingly warming). I can't wait to see what this beer is like a few years down the road.

ps
there's still lots at queen's quay if anyone is looking.

I tried a couple of bottles of the '00 Vintage at the cottage over the past weekend.

Another nice brew from McAuslan, but there was never any doubt. I believe the '00 version is about 0.5%-1% stronger than last year's version.

The first bottle I tried had a strong alcohol flavour, and would probably benefit from a little mellowing over time. But the second bottle was excellent. Then again, I was enjoying the cottage and virtually any beer would have tasted good.
